We weaned from the pacifier during sleep training. DD did really well. She was pacifier free for about 3 weeks. She looooooooved her binky. Last weekend we went on a 9 hour car ride to visit my sister and half way in the ride I gave in and gave it to her. I think she was so bored in her carseat and her pacifier gave her something to do. It worked wonders for her in the car. Well anyways, since then, I have given it to her for a few naps in the swing. Never have I given it to her at night. I certainly don't want to confuse her and I feel like I am...yet I feel like I am depriving her of her beloved binky. We took it away at night because she was losing it all night and disrupting everyone's sleep. Not sure what to do now.
Re: Pacifier use only during the day?
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I'm in a similar position. We weaned pacifier from night sleeping for the past couple weeks and as of this week naps as well. But I'm still choosing to give it to her during the day when extra fussy, and for car rides.
So far she seems ok. I'm just mindful to not give her the pacifier in her room. Not sure if that makes a difference.
perfect.
