XP-Braxton Hicks that wake you at night?

I get Braxton Hicks all day long these days (whenever I stand up, bend over, move too quickly, etc) but I get them in the middle of the night and they are so painful they wake me up.  During the day they are mostly just annoying, not painful.  At night every time I roll over I get one and it actually hurts so that I am wide awake by the time it goes away.  Does anyone else have this?  I had asked my OB about the frequency of them and he said that since my uterus is so overextended I will be getting them from now on as if it were the last few weeks of a singleton pregnancy (I never got them with DS1 but got them frequently at the very end with DS2).  But the nighttime thing is all new to me.

  • Yep. I was put on modified bedrest because of them around 30w. Water broke at 36w. They were horrible, i could barely walk, and the only thing that helped was to lay down.

  • I got them too. Although, around 31 weeks they turned into "real" contractions (according to my NSTs). They never really hurt during the day, but they would really ache at night. I figured it was due to the pressure and strain on muscles from being sideways and having to roll to get up. Not to mention the frequent need to use the restroom. I went on bed rest at 34w for IUGR and my water broke at 36 w.

  • Same thing here since I was 31w. I contract literally every 2 min and I feel like the nightime ones are more painful duevto a full bladder. No bedrest here, and I am almost 38 w and not dialated at all. Hopefully this eases your nerves.

  • Mine were like this in the third tri too. I was put on modified bedrest at 31 weeks bc my cervix started effacing....but then stayed at 80 percent with just fingertip dilation until 35 and a half weeks when they decided to take the babies via CS.

  • I get them whenever I strain my abdomen to do something, bend over, sit up, roll over, etc. I asked my OB yesterday and she said "get used to it". I had them really quick and right on top of each other a few nights ago after rolling over that I didn't fall back asleep for several hours for fear I was going to need to go to L&D. Eventually they calmed down. OB says since I'm a FTM my uterus is overactive and not to worry bc my cervix is still long(ish) and closed. HTH!
