I am 31 weeks with my second child and my 22 month old DS has PDD-NOS. Well today I started contracting regularly so I went to the doctor and I am 1 cm dilated. That immediately got me admitted to labor and delivery. They also did the fetal fibronectin test and it came back positive
So I am getting the steroid shots and procardia to calm things down. I will be in the hospital until tomorrow evening at least. Hopefully this baby will keep cooking for at least 6 more weeks. Until then I am on bed rest. I am a stay at home mom and I don't how I am going to manage all of my sons sensory and therapy needs and be on bed rest
Has anyone been on bed rest before with a special needs child? Any tips?
Thank you!
Re: T and P's request
No personal experience--just wanted to send positive thoughts your way that your LO keeps cooking for 6 more weeks.
Do you have any family in the area that could help out? If no family, could you hire someone as a mother's helper for the time being to help entertain DS?
When I was in/out of the hospital on/off bedrest with dd2 P basically missed everything. I had EI go to my grandma's house or our house but her outpatient appt's I just had to move. I didn't have anyone else who could drive her or anything. I remember the day after I had dd2 I got a call from a therapy center we had been on the waitlist for 6+ months, and we ended up having to keep waiting for the next spot bc I couldn't make the appt the next day!
Good luck, I hope you have some support.
I am hoping that your LO waits a little while longer! I don't have any advice about the therapies, but I can imagine how difficult it could be (I don't have any family or close friends nearby).
I hope that you can relax (easier said than done I am sure) and get done for your LO what you need to.
I only have one child, so no experience with bed rest and a SN child. I just want to send good thoughts.
I was Dx with preterm labor at 30w 3d. They gave me the steroid shots and were anticipating that i would deliver very early. The meds (terbutaline and procardia) and bed rest kept me pregnant for exactly 6 more weeks. I was very lucky DS was born 3 days after the took me off procardia and 5 after the completely let me off bed rest. He was able to go home with me. I'm sending good thoughts that you have a similar or even better outcome :-)
