No car and taxi's are DANGEROUS!

Hi Ladies,

I am a FT-SAHM living in Kuwait. At the moment I do not have a car and the taxi's are not exactly the safest. The driving here is extremely dangerous so I am nervous to go anywhere with my little one. We just got here in December 29, 2012 and I am having a hard time doing nothing all day. I feel claustrophobic! While I was home, in the states, I was ALWAYS out and about either visiting family or friends, running errands, Mommy-baby yoga, etc. I met two other Moms so it gives me a chance to get out twice a week to have play-dates. But does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to keep us occupied. I need a hobby that my 8 month old son and I can do at home or something! ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED!

Thanks!!!!

  • Go native Big Smile

Most of the expats that I know who lived in Kuwait either went native or got a driver. Two families that we know shared on driver. Options for you?

  • I ended up buying a car, but I would second sharing a driver. You can also see if you can set up a regular pickup schedule with a taxi driver/service you trust. In KL they loved the stability of that...we also had an long distance guy for days we wanted to go to the airport/next town. Just called the night before.
  • Oh and for hobbies... Does your place have a pool? That was our main "hobby" tbh...
