3rd Trimester

What are you reading?

I looking for a couple of good books to get me through the coming weeks.  I keep hearing about Run by Ann Patchett, has anyone read it?  Any other recommendations?  I am so sick of daytime tv and it's going to be too cold to swim this weekend so I'll probably end up lounging in the couch.

Re: What are you reading?

  • Im on Safe Haven by Sparks. I wanted something super easy to get through while I stress over induction.

  • I haven't read anything good lately. Just books on how to now kill my toddler.

Over the summer I re read the Anne Shirley series. I forgot how much I loved those books and was kind sad when I finished them!

  • Depends on what you like. One of my favorite series is The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Especially if you want something funny and distracting.

  • I just read Gone Girl and liked it. Then I read All There Is, which is a book of dialogue/stories from people in the StoryCorps project (not sure if you've ever listened to that). Anyway, I liked it but I liked the first book - Listening is an Act of Love - more. I really loved that one.

I just started The Fault in Our Stars yesterday. So far so good.

I loved this book- and it was completely by chance that I picked it up.

Tight now I'm on Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, but I'm thinking I will need to put it down and pick up a lighter read for the next few weeks because it takes a lot of focus. Good book though.

I've almost bought this for my nook several times.

I've also enjoyed and have recommended to friends:

The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley

The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory (though the historical inaccuracies did irk me)

The Day the Falls Stood Still by Cathy Marie Buchanan

The Mill River Recluse Darcie Chan (okay. Not great. But entertaining enough)

The Widow's War by Sally Gunning

Same Kind of Different As Me- made me cry ugly tears

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak- might be one of my all time favorites

(Is it obvious I just pulled up the books on my BN account?)

Loved this!! I also like to read long, epic novels/series that can take months to get through. I'm on the last book of John Jakes' North and South series now. It's really good. Also I would recommend anything by Humphrey Bower. His books are easy reading, but captivating and will pass many hours.

  • I love book series because once I'm done with a book I always want more, but then I get upset when I have to wait for the next book.  Game of Thrones is a good series, there are 5 books out right now so that can keep you busy for a while.  A good quick read is The Great Gatsby, I re-read that in just a few days after I saw the preview for the movie coming out this spring with Leonardo Dicaprio.  I'd also recommend The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.  The Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory is awesome and she has a whole series of books relating to King Henry the 8th that you can read if you like that one.
