Intro and question

Hi all!

I guess it's time to finally come out of lurking. I've posted a little over on 3T. My history is all in my siggie, but basically we were very lucky with our third IUI/seventh Clomid cycle. We already had injectables training and Rxs ready to fill, but so far don't need it.

Betas looked good and at the untrasound today we were able to see the sack, but it's still too early for the heartbeat. There's defiantly still some nervousness there.

So, a question: I am going to be a new patient when I go to see the OB. I called to make an appointment now and mentioned I am still with the RE. They want to see me at 7.5 weeks, but I'm not sure when I am going to graduate. Has anyone had treatment overlap between the two?

I had treatment overlap and it worked out fine. The RE and OB talk to each other and the OB will run all the 1st tri testing and set up your 12 week a/s etc.

Welcome and congratulations!

I actually did overlap a little but between my RE and my OB. My RE released me around 6 and 1/2 weeks (after we heard the heartbeat). I had called my OB prior to that appointment, though, because they need more notice when scheduling. My OB wanted me to come in at 6 weeks to meet with their OB coordinator (basically a nurse that is there to answer general pregnancy questions regarding diet, symptoms, etc). So I did have that appointment before officially being released, and it was no big deal.

I had treatment overlap. The OB let the RE take the lead while I was still under their care, but this way I was started through the normal time table of events at the OB's office. For example, the NT Scan has to be done during a certain window of the pregnancy. I had that scheduled at the OBs office even though I was still seeing the RE status post IVF with continued low progesterone.

Does that make sense??

I'm in my overlap now. Basically, my RE confirmed that the pregnancy was in the uterus (not ectopic) then my OB took over. They've done all my prenatal care. My RE still monitors my levels for progesterone and estridol. I had an ultrasound 2 weeks ago to see the heart beats then formally release me. Unfortunately, I miscarried one twin. I go back tomorrow for another ultrasound and once they get a good rate for the remaining baby I'll start weaning off my meds. Tomorrow is my last RE appointment. I'll just have labs sent to them and receive a phone call with directions for weaning off. I've had no issues with it - I love my OB. She has been a lifesaver during this pregnancy and miscarriage. I wanted to get released to her as soon as possible.

Congrats! 7 clomid cycles? I thought there was a 6 max lifetime. So glad it worked for you though! I did not have overlap, but I know that others have (my RE released me super early). Hope you see a HB soon!

I saw my OB before I graduated from the RE (at 8 weeks). I had my u/s with the RE and they transferred all of my info to my OB. It was a smooth transition.

Gregermis:Congrats! 7 clomid cycles? I thought there was a 6 max lifetime.

My RE wanted to give three IUIs with clomid a shot (I had an extra clomid-only cycle in there due to Hurricane Sandy). I was leery when he suggested it, but I did some reading and decided it was worth trying since my lining wasn't an issue up to that point. It was my last clomid cycle no matter the outcome, though, because of the long-term risks. It was definitely a hard choice to make.
