Baby A has reached my ribs...

It's offical, he/she has reached my ribs and is kicking me in the ribs now.  Do stretches or sitting in different positions help? I feel like my uterus is up there too, but am not sure.  Does this seem early to happen?  FWIW, I'm only 5'2", so maybe there just isn't enough room??

Re: Baby A has reached my ribs...

  • Baby B was up so high on my right side I used to gently push down on him to get him to move.  I would have to get up and walk to get him down, and laying on my opposite side usually helped.  I can't remember when mine started, but I'm 5'9" and still had that issue!

  • I am 5'3 and felt one of the babies in my ribs the whole time. Your ribs will adjust a little and it won't bother you as much in the coming weeks. You will also get used to it, at least I did.

  • I'm also short (5'1") and felt Baby B's head in my ribs quite a bit. The instructor in our multiples class had us raise our arms over our heads and reach for the sky when we felt this way. It helped a bit. I would also gently massage the body part that was up in my ribs to encourage him to move a bit. That really helped.

  • My boys were transverse most of my pregnancy and baby b remained transverse in my ribs from about 24 weeks on. Not to be Debbie downer but it was the most uncomfortable part of my pregnancy as I couldn't breath.

I did find stretching out reclined in my recliner was much more comfortable towards the end as he would move down a bit but sitting was brutal.

I may win mother of the year for this but I would often place a cold towel or ice pack on the top of my tummy to get him to shift down at times so I could breath. I would just place it there long enough for him to move.

Just find comfortable positions and that will make it so much easier.
