Hungry all the time! .....intro

Hi, I just found out that I'm having twins at 6w5d and I've been eating every 2 hrs or less! Is this normal? I'm 7w3d as I today and I'm not sure if there is anything I can eat that will make me fuller for longer? I really want to eat healthy but it seems when I eat fruit I'm hungry right away. Any suggestions would be great! I can't wait to learn new things from all you ladies that have already been through it.

  • I was hungry all the time early on. I was craving carbs so I'd snack on crackers all day but that never seemed to fill me up. Try to eat something with protein - cheese, yogurt, hummus, peanut butter. That should stay with you longer.

  • Yes, it's totally normal.  I was that way until about 11w, then I went back to eating as much as I did before pregnancy.  Ditto pp regarding protein.  That will help you to stay full longer.  I had a lot of KIND bars (almost all nuts) and would drink protein shakes.  I would even wake up at night because I was so hungry.  Keep some crackers with peanut butter or something next to your bed and when you get up to pee, eat them.  That will help in the AM so you aren't as hungry.

  • Yup, all normal. I went VERY high protein with lots of veggies (raw and cooked) to keep me full -- at least when I could stomach them. While I didn't have any m/s, veggies sounded pretty gross during the first trimester.

So, I was big on cottage cheese, egg whites, turkey sausage, greek yogurt, etc.

  • Yep! Very normal. It does get better. I'm now 15weeks1day and am not as hungry all of the time.  Very early on I couldn't go more than 1.5-2 hours without eating.  I kept nuts/fruit and fiber bars on me to snack on throughout the day.  My coworkers started guessing I was pregnant with all of the snacking I was doing :)  I definitely suggest things with fiber to avoid constipation. That has been my worst symptom so far.  Costco has a great dried fruit/nuts bag you can pick up as well as fiber bars.  Super easy to stash in your purse for when you get hungry. Be sure to keep snacks on you.  If I didn't have anything to eat, I would start to feel nauseous. (I luckily haven't experienced morning sickness).  I would also snack on things (and still do) like celery with peanut butter, berries and whole wheat toast with peanut butter.  Congratulations!! :)
  • I was hungry non stop too .. and thirsty. Unfortunately I was also nauseated all the time too! I had extreme morning sickness. the doc told me to make sure I am eating every few hours and drinking way more then usual! good luck
