... by the Department of Homeland Security.

Scary thoughts raced through my mind when I saw the email address pop up but the agent is inquiring about a complaint I filed on eBay (back in Sept/Oct!!!) about a seller who sold me a counterfeit ErgoBaby carrier. Long story short I purchased the carrier, found out it was fake, attempted for weeks to contact the seller to get a refund/not have the item shipped, still received the item a month later, and then had a blast on the phone with eBay and Paypal for several days trying to get my money back and file a complaint. In the meantime I bought my own REAL carrier, had a great time laughing at the fake that the seller was trying to pass off as real before sending it back, and wrote a nasty negative feedback warning others not to buy. I was a recreational eBayer, but stopped buying after this incident happened because I felt that eBay wasn't taking me seriously. Every other word out of their customer service reps' mouths was "um" or "eh" and I spoke to several different ones.

Fast forward to now, I am contacted by the department of homeland security about an investigation into this seller and the counterfeit items they were trying to sell. I am more than happy to provide information and I genuinely hope the problem is resolved and others who were scammed are compensated. My faith in eBay is minorly restored because they decided to pursue whatever complaints they did receive about this seller. I feel so special being contacted about this. I'm ridiculous. LOL

Just my 2 cents though, what do I know? lol.

They usually don't operate by e-mail, though. Proceed with caution.

Yeah, I thought of that too. I googled the person who contacted me and they seem legit, but I didn't tell them anything more than that they could email me.

Yeah, I thought of that too. I googled the person who contacted me and they seem legit, but I didn't tell them anything more than that they could email me.
If you googled them, someone trying to commit fraud could too. I'd contact your Homeland Securities people. If it's legit, you can confirm and if it's illigit I'm sure they'll want to know someone is impersonating them. ETA not trying to be bossy, TwoItalians...I'd just hate to see you get screwed.

Thanks... I appreciate it. I emailed eBay also and am waiting to hear back from them.
