Birthday gift for 1 year old boy

My close friend's son just turned one. She and her husband recently started renting an apartment downtown Chicago and staying on nights that they have a busy schedule (she's a wedding planner and he's a lawyer and they live way out in the far far burbs, so the apt eleviates some of the driving hassle...anyway).

I thought that this would be a great gift for little Henry since they will be doing more back and forth now:

Any thoughts? Other suggestions? Or is this good?

  • perfect. My cousins son was coming to our house with a tote of toys. I bought him a backpack.

if you feel you want to gift more.. maybe fill the backpack with a few toys maybe a cup...

  • Love our Skip Hop backpacks. Does he go to daycare...are you sure he doesn't already have a bag?

    Monster Truck/Cars/Trains

Books: In the town all year 'round, Goodnight Goodnight Construction Site

Melissa and Doug puzzles: the Construction puzzle, the Emergency Vehicles puzzle, and the latches puzzle

  • I think that's a great gift, assuming he doesn't have a backpack.

They've either had her mom or a babysitter watch him in their home. I think I might ask her under the guise that I want to get something for Kate and see what she says.

  • Something he might be able to grow into is a "Learn to Dress" doll like this one:

    https://www.amazon.com/Alex-Toys-Learn-Dress-Monkey/dp/B00168CPQM/ref=sr_1_3?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1362010642&sr=1-3&keywords=learn+to+dress+doll

Not sure if that's clicky.  Sorry if it's not.
