hysteroscopy anyone?

I'm mobile bumping, so excuse any formatting issues.

Well my saline sono didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked. I'm feeling so discouraged! They saw some "debris" which could be left over from the dc or it could be "menstrual debris". I have to go back on Monday for a hysteroscopy. Does it hurt? My RE said take some Advil beforehand...which usually translates to "this is gonna suck big time" for a big baby like myself. Also, what does this mean if it's left over from the dc? Do I have to have another!? I don't want my FET put off any longer! Ugh....

Re: hysteroscopy anyone?

  • I had one before my first IVF, because they saw a polyp and assorted stuff (debris?), which could prevent the embryo(s) from sticking to the uterine wall, because there would be less room available.

It's a pretty easy procedure, and in my case it was painless because I had general anesthesia, which doesn't sound like it'll be the case for you.  Perhaps someone else can speak to that type of procedure.

Other than that, I must let you know, in my case, I had to wait an extra cycle for my lining to rebuild itself, so prepare yourself for that likely delay.  I know you're beyond ready to get to your FET and I'm so sorry it keeps getting pushed back, but hopefully once you get there, everything will be ready for a sticky baby!

There's so much in this that makes think "oh crap!!". Lol!! First of all, if you had anesthesia then that makes me super nervous!! And of course it would make my FET get pushed back. I mean, nothing can go right for me!

  • I had one the cycle before our IUI (December, I think?) to check for scar tissue from my c/s, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. The worst part for me was getting the speculum in (same as a pap) and once she inserted the scope it was very quick. The actual hysterscope looks very intimidating, but don't let it scare you!

I may have taken a leftover vicoden I had from when I broke my leg a few months ago Confused...but honestly I don't think I even needed it. You'll totally be fine.

  • I had one in October. I was totally down for the count the day of from the anestesia but I went to work the next day. I was crampy for a couple days, but nothing terrible. It really was not that bad. Like you, I was afraid it would be horrible. My dr made me take a month off from treatments after to let my body heal. Waiting to start cycling is awful, but I think letting your body take a break after is the best route to go on your way to a BFP. Good luck!
  • Thanks everyone. Unfortunately, I will continue to freak out until Monday, but that's just me! I'm so worried that most of you had anesthesia and I won't! Not that I want it, but I am such a wimp. Ugh...geez...
