Fibroid

Hi Ladies! I had an ultrasound yesterday and I noticed a bump on my uterus and it looked HUGE because the baby was almost laying on it. I asked my doctor's office today and they said that I have a fibroid and it was actually noted back at my 5w4d ultrasound. (I just couldn't see it because the ultrasound image was back further) It measured 12 mm (not even half an inch) back during my first ultrasound. Does anyone have any experience with these?  (I am almost 12 weeks)

    I have a large fibroid on the outside of my uterus.  They say that sometimes the fibroid can get bigger during the course of the pregnancy.  I do have to be monitored, but for the most part, it doesn't bother me during my pregnancies.

    Mine is on the inside of my uterus and not even half an inch. I was the one that asked them about it so I am assuming they may not have told me about it unless there is growth? Hopeful no fibroid growth occurs! Best of luck to you

    I have two.  One gets ginormous during pregnancy... I can actually see it protruding from the outside of my stomach.  Both of mine are on the outside of my uterus, so I'm not sure if they will treat it differently.  Because mine are on the outside they don't have to do anything but monitor them.  Most times mine don't keep getting bigger and bigger, they stop growing at some point, so hopefully yours does too!

    I have a submucosal fibroid that has has grown to about 5.3 centimeters so far.  My doctor has me seeing a high risk doctor 1 time a month to monitor growth and any effect it has had on baby.  Luckily so far so good!  He also is seeing me more often to monitor for signs of preterm labor.  Having one on the inside of your uterus with baby is a little more unusual/dangerous but it does not mean you will definatly have complications!  Good luck.

    A good friend has had them removed several times and she had a c/s yesterday so they removed them again then. I saw the pics from her previous surgery and it was truly nearig the size of a basketball.

    That's very small. As long as it's not very big, it should not be a problem.
