So my baby is 3 weeks old and I am breast feeding. My question to you moms is: when will my boobs stop hurting and leaking??? I'm sure it is different for every women, but when was it for you??
They will. We are all a bit different. Mine with my first stopped leaking such that I no longer needed to wear breast pads around 6-8 weeks. They stopped getting way too full and hurting in less time. Once your boobs kinda regulate how much supply is needed they settle down. My bff still uses breast pads for leakage (from the side not being nursed on during nursing) and her LO is 8 months! We are just all different.
I still leak, although they are only sore when DS wakes up at odd times in the night to eat. With my DD, I EPed, but had to wear nursing pads the WHOLE time until I weaned from the pump (at 1 year) plus 4+ months (can't remember exactly-although at that point it would be dime sized amounts).
My boobs don't really hurt anymore. Sometimes they are sensitive when they are full right before a feeding. I can literally feel them start to fill up and then leak a bit, it's like a dull ache.
As for leaking, they leak pretty consistently. I've heard they will until you stop BF and dry up...?

Geez, I sure hope mine stop hurting, at least this much, pretty soon. My real milk just came in, and wow! When he latches on, it's horrendous. Toe-curling, swear-out-loud kind of pain. I had the hospital's lactation consultant check to make sure he was doing it right, and he was. Guess I just gotta suck it up for a while!
I am also 8 weeks PP and EBF, and mine don't leak that much anymore, nor do they hurt. It is different for every woman, but it tends to get quite a bit better anywhere from 4-6 weeks. After 6 weeks, I could put pressure on the nipple of the breast LO was not eating off of, and it would stop the flow of milk. But if they still hurt really badly, they may be engorged more than you would like. I always took a warm shower, used a hot compress, or hand milked a little out to help with the discomfort.
With DS, there was a period where I was leaking a ton. Like, I would wake up with my shirt soaked. That lasted from the time my milk came in to when LO was a couple of weeks old. Even still, after that, I would leak a little. It was much less, but I still had to wear pads just in case.
As far as your breasts hurting, just make sure that your LO is nursing on both sides and that LO is emptying your breasts to avoid engorgement. Typical BFing pains though, I don't know. For me, mine still hurt if I go too long between feedings/pumping and are a little sore to the touch but aren't painful anymore. The pain stopped after about a week.
I have a 19 weeks old baby, my breast use to hurt and leak at first especially at night if i dont breastfeed enough before bed, so to avoid pain and leakage, u should use a breastpump and every 3 to 4 hours to get off the excess milk build up that cause the hurt and leaks , it works for me.
They stopped hurting after 34weeks. Now, if I havent fed or pumped in 3.5hrs I start leaking. Sometimes I can go 4.5 before leaking
Eta: when I'm nursing at home I wear a milk catcher. I leak half an ounce or more per feed. It takes a little getting used tocan't bend over while wearing/ after I'm done I prop it against the lamp or something while I put Faye down or change a diaper. Then I go back and dump it in a storage bottle

I find the pain subsides when I make LO redo his poor latch. I HATE relatching though because then the letdown happens all over again and that's the most painful thing ON THE PLANET!
Also, my mom told me her doctor back in the day told her to dry her nipples after a feeding or a few times a day with a sun lamp. We don't have one so I've been using a space heater and OMG it makes an amazing difference immediately. I ache in between feedings and am in pain constantly, but not anymore, and I only started doing this last night. How come nobody talks about heaters? Also, I ditched my lanolin cream. That stuff was keeping me moist when dryness is the key to getting rid of soreness!

I had to wear pads the whole time I nursed DS (just about one year!!)
Now DD is 6 weeks old my boobs only hurt if she goes longer than usual w/o nursing.
Mine haven't hurt or become engorged for some time now but do leak only when I am nursing and let down happens.
'Til He returns, or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I stand.
