My little sister is overweight and has been her whole life. She was dealt a bad hand of genetics that have never helped her situation. We have different dads and her aunts and Grandma on her dad's side are also overweight. My sister was overweight by 2. I'm sure our mom and her dad could have helped her situation but clearly they didn't. She's about 5'8" and close to 315 lbs.

Anyway, she has a 2.5 year old little girl and has an IUD. Her and her DH wanted more kids but she wanted to lose some weight and feel healthy first so she had an IUD. Her IUD failed and she's pregnant with her second. She's happy but just wishes the timing were different.

K, she was kind of telling this woman at her work how she would like the timing to be different and why and the woman says to her, "At least when you're as big as you are you can just resolve to being overweight. You don't have to worry about not looking good in a swimsuit because clearly you're big anyway. It won't surprise people to see you dressed to then see you in a swimsuit. You don't have to watch what you eat at this point because it's going to take years to lose the weight you want. You might as well learn to enjoy it. People like me have to constantly watch what I eat and feel self conscious when I'm not at my goal weight!"

I'm probably missing details but my hell! My sister is amazing...she calls me to tell me the story and she's laughing through it. Maybe disbelief, maybe hiding insecurities. It's hard to say. I asked what she told the woman and she said, "well don't you just have all the answers" and walked away. Better woman than me. I would have throat punched her!

It's nice to know I'm not alone. Lol. I was literally in shock that she didn't say anything else to her. It made me sad when we hung up the phone though because I know she self conscious and I'm sure she's just putting up a defense. I can't imagine words like that wouldn't sting even if you are taking the higher road.

I have a coworker who made a similar style comment like that to our overweight coworker. I was about ready to punch her and our overweight coworker just laughed it off. I couldn't believe she kept her cool!
The audacity of some people amazes me.
Ugggg...Now I'm angry again thinking about it.
