June 2013 Moms

jealous and hormonal today

So I am 24 weeks now and getting bigger by the week. I used to be a runner..but morning sickness stopped me from from running in the beginning of my pregnancy. Now I am getting back into exercise and just have been walking. I am so jealous of my friends who are signing up for all these summer 5 and 10k's that I used to do. My baby is due at the end of June so I will not be ready to do those or allowed to(after birth) I am enjoying my pregnancy now that I am not nauseas but I can't wait to get back into shape after the baby is born. Everytime I see my friends post what race they are signed up for on Facebook I am so jealous. I know its dumb but I am just annoyed. Anyone else feel like this? And I miss shopping for real clothes and looking stylish. I feel like a weeble wobble and wear the same outfits all the time. That's my rant of the day..lol

Re: jealous and hormonal today

  • I am tired of wearing the same clothes all the time too. I should really just go buy a couple more pairs of maternity pants but I hate the thought of spending money that I don't have on pants that I will only wear for another three months. This is my first baby so I guess I could put them away and save them for our next baby. I went to church last Sunday and felt like I kept wearing the same pants or this long black skirt I have so I decided to try and wear a cute pair of these white jeans I have and put the belly band over it... it was a ridiculous idea... I felt like I was cutting off the circulation to the lower half of my body. I think it's time for me to suck it up and go buy a few more maternity pants.

  • YES!!!  I totally understand how you feel!  I competed in triathlons and running races prior to becoming pregnant.  I live in Ohio, so tri season is basically just the summer, so of course I am pretty much out for the season.  Pretty much all of my friends compete and while I am excited for them, I am insanely jealous that I am going to miss a whole season of races.

I don't really have advice- just I know how you feel. Hang in there.

  • I am trying not to buy anymore maternity clothes..just hate spending the money on clothes I will only be wearing for a short time. I am going to splurge and buy a nice dress for my baby shower in April though.
  • Definitely.  I'm super bummed that I have to miss the gigantic 10k that's on the 4th of July this year - but I figure less than a month out from giving birth isn't really ideal for running in the heat of July.  Boo.  It's also sad not to be training for a triathlon this summer.  I gave it a miss last year due to half-marathon training, and I really regret that now!

  • The only comfort I have from getting as big as I have so far is buying clothes & eating.  At this point, I am just trying to embrace being large & in charge, and trying to look as cute as possible.  It's only a few months away until we all start popping these bad boys out, so might as well enjoy the stuff you can. I know that once the baby is out, I won't be able to eat say, three desserts in one day (yes... today I will have a total of three desserts b/c of a luncheon at work and all the tempting treats), so I am just going to enjoy it while I can!

  • I'm not a runner, but I miss lots of things I enjoyed more when I wasn't pregnant. Obviously it's temporary and worth it but the whole "sacred vessel" thing isn't all it's cracked up to be.

  • I'm also not a runner but I get the missing stuff feeling plenty.  I wish I could say it goes away completely after baby is born, but sadly there will still be things you miss out on after baby arrives because your life will suddenly have a new set of priorities.  Obviously you shouldn't just lose yourself to mommyhood (I shudder to think!) but a lot of the spontaneity that you were probably used to before baby came along will suffer.  Life will still be awesome, just different. But yeah, get back into running ASAP.  My friends who are runners LOVE LOVE LOVE it and it's the sort of hobby/passion that is decently easy to squeeze in even with a baby.  :)

  • I feel the same way especially about working out.  I used to work out during the week and throw in several runs around our community during the week as well and now after a day at work, I'm so tired and worn out (I spend all day walking around) that there's not way I'm getting a workout in.

But just think that soon our little ones will be here and then we can get back into working out again.

  • I totally understand where you are coming from.  All of our local 'fun' races are when I won't be able to do anything.  I'm trying to focus on the races I can sign up for once I'm cleared to train again - Looking at an 8k in November that I think I should  be able to do.  I'm walking as well, but even that has been difficult given the lower back pain I've recently developed, but it's better than nothing!  Just trying to stay in the best shape I can so getting back into the swing of things won't be too difficult.

     You certainly aren't alone though!!

  • Yes!!  I am with you!  I miss working out hardcore and going for long runs sooo much.  I still go to the gym, but I can't do my regular workouts obviously, and some douchetard always says something to me like "should you be at the gym?  shouldn't you be home resting?".  I really miss my body and fashionable clothes, I can't wait to get into the best shape of my life after baby!
