We had to go back to the hospital late last night. The blood culture showed that the bacteria from her infection spread to her blood. I just lost it when they called to tell me that. I used to work in the hospital lab, the same one, so I know how serious that is. I called my BFF who is a nurse and she went with me. They planned on admitting her, but her on again of again fever was off again and she was happy, pink, and normal seeming. They gave her a shot of rocephin and that really hurt her. Today we had a follow up, they think she has bladder reflux so next week we have to go to DeVos Children's Hospital for testing. If she develops any sort of fever I have to bring her back to the hospital for more rocephin. She's also on another antibiotic for 10 days. I just keep thinking that I should have noticed she was that sick sooner. And what if we would have caught it even a few days later. I'm just soooo worried, anxious, and a million other things. Moms if your little ones seem off make sure you get them checked out!

Yes she's on it for 10 days. Thank you for telling me your daughter is fine. It's so scary for me.
It's really easy to blame yourself, but our LOs have such limited means of communication, it is sometimes almost impossible to interpret what, if anything, is wrong. You seem to be handling this really well and doing everything possible to help your LO get better. Keep up the good work and hang in there!

THIS. It is so easy to blame yourself and think you could have done anything to prevent this, but you are doing whatever possible to get your LO back on track, so don't beat yourself up. Good luck and hope she gets better soon!
I finally got on my laptop instead of my phone. (it's a B to post to TheBump on my phone).
1st: I'm so sorry that Milla is sick. That is super hard!
2nd: Piper spent her first week of life in the NICU at Devos Children's Hospital (I delivered at Spectrum) and let me tell you they are some amazing people! Milla will be in GREAT hands there. And seriously one of the reasons I delivered at Spectrum was because Devos is attached to it.
3rd: sending good thoughts and vibes that Milla is feeling better really really soon!
Ugh I hear ya about the phone. There are a ton of times I so want to reply, but just don't because of my phone. I'm glad there are other people here in W.MI on here that know about DeVos. I almost drove there Monday morning instead of back to Holland Hospital, but I'm just a few blocks from it, and her fever was pretty high.
She's feeling a lot better, she has a cough that is a side effect of the bactrim, but we got a new antibiotic today that is a perfect match to kill the bacteria in her. Tuesday we are doing the testing and they are doing another UA with culture. Hopefully it's clear. I'm half tempted to ask for another blood culture as well. I went from a semi over-protective mom, to paranoid over-protective mom. My milk supply has decreased a ton from her not eating, but she nursed almost nonstop all night and a lot today, so I'm pretty sure it will go back up on it's own. Just to be safe (well I'm using that as an excuse anyway) I made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies to get some extra oats in me.
We really appreciate all of the support from everyone. Thank you!
