Headaches anyone?

I have been having terrible headaches everyday for the past 5 days or so. It's not due to dehydration because I am drinking a ton of water. And not from lack of caffiene because I still have a cup of coffee every morning. I am at a loss and have started to miss work because of this. Is anyone else experiencing this and have they come up with any remedies? I try not to take any medicine (tylenol, etc.) unless it really gets bad and I need to finish work. I plan to ask my OB at next appt but wanted to know if you ladies had any advice until then.

TYIA :)

Re: Headaches anyone?

  • Quite possibly just hormones.  I got myself weaned from caffeine completely before getting pregnant but every day I get a headache and caffeine is the only thing to stop it.  Tylenol is my only suggestion, other than seeing what the OB says.

This exactly. I skip the morning caffeine and have a cup in the afternoon when my headache hits. I have been getting them everyday for weeks now.

  • I've been getting them really bad and don't take any medicine...I noticed my phone, computer, and TV make it worse. I shut everything off and put a cold wet washcloth over my eyes it's the only thing that helps. Feel better!
  • I've had out of control tension headaches the last week or two. I went to the chiro yesterday, and things feel better today. I'll do another treatment next week, and then back off to once a month or so based on symptoms.
  • I have had one for 8 days and nothing seems to help. Cold cloth on neck and try to sleep it off is the best I can suggest, Tylenol too if that works for you . Good luck
  • I've had some pretty bad headaches as well. I'm noticing though, once I eat the headache eases up. My DH believes it's because I'm not eating enough...which may be true because I'm still battling MS from time to time and have no appetite.

  • I had them for a while with my DD and currently have had them for the past 4 weeks or so. I remember them easing up around 20 weeks with my DD so I hope they stop soon. My OB said that it was normal and it had something to do with hormones.

  • I had terrible headaches I think around week 14 through16...something like that. They were debilitating. It had to be hormones because at that point I hadn't had caffeine in almost six months and was definitely making sure it wasn't dehydration.

But I had to take tylenol. I'm not one to suffer for no reason and tylenol is not going to hurt you or the baby. Eventually I learned the warning signs and was able to stop the headache with half a coke and two tylenol before it really started. It would still last hours but was very mild. Whereas before I had to sit in a dark room for half the day and got nothing done.

  • I actually just called my OB on this yesterday beecause I had one so bad. The nurse suggested taking Tylenol with a pop that contains caffeine I never drank much caffeine prior to being pregnant either. I've been getting them pretty frequently where I can handle with just time or a visit to my chiropractor, but this one was bad. I did feel better after the Tylenol and pop. I'm not sure if it had just run its course, or it was the combo, but I'm happy its gone today. The nurse also said it is common to get headaches.

This exactly. Mine began around 12-14 weeks, and my MW said it was just hormones.

Non-medicine relief that (sometimes, kind of) worked: napping, laying in a dark room, light yoga stretches, a warm bath, cup of coffee

But usually I ended up taking some Tylenol.

  • I've always had headaches and I have been getting pretty bad ones lately. Caffeine and Tylenol usually help but if I get a really bad one I will take a shower and stand under water that is as hot as I can stand for as long as I can. My ob also told me to get my eyes checked.

  • Same with me - starting at 14 weeks I've had a few headaches as well.  My coworker who is also pregnant said the same thing happened to her around 14-15 weeks.  Hope you feel better soon!
  • I had the same thing around 14 weeks both last time and this time. Tylenol actually doesn't work all that well for me. I really just had to tough it out. Luckily I feel better this week. GL!
