Migraine hell

Before I even opened my eyes this morning, I could see the visual flashes... Took a Tylenol before getting out of bed. Then BAM! The migraine hit me like a ton of bricks. My old migraine pills that work wonders are known teratogens do I can't and won't take them but man oh man do I wish I could. There's a big weather system coming in which I think is to blame. Ouff...

  • I am so sorry you're going through this!  I also get migraines and have not been able to use my normal drugs, and Tylenol just doesn't cut it.

Since a small amount of caffeine is okay, you may want to try a cup of tea or coffee.  When I got a bad one last week I also tried drinking a TON of water and lying with a cold compress in our bedroom in the dark.  It's not perfect, but it might help a little bit.

     Hope you feel better soon!

  • Thanks for the support ladies! I took a cup of coffee this morning with the Tylenol and normally that helps but count me unlucky... Didn't work this time. I'm at work but will head home if the pain doesn't subside... Mmm... Cold compress and darkness sounds lovely. I should give that a try.
  • I feel you here! The last 2 weeks, I havne't had much in the way of morning sickness anymore, but I've been getting terrible migraines! So bad to the point, that it feels like I have ms again, because I just feel like throwing up if I open my eyes. Today It's more of just a headache so far, but it's day 3 of headaches! Hopefully it doesn't develop anymore so I don't feel miserable, yet again.

  • I feel your pain! I've had a couple of migraines so far this pregnancy, and only being able to take Tylenol and drink some coffee has been brutal. I totally second going home, lying in a dark room and having a cold compress on your forehead.

One thing I did right after my first migraine was order some of these off of amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/WellPatch-Cooling-Headache-Pads-Migraine/dp/B001FORLJ8

These cold pads work absolutely wonders with helping me feel better - I was able to fall asleep with one on and wake up migraine free.

I really hope you feel better soon!

  • As nausea has been tapering off, migraines have set in for me.  Monday night I had the worst migraine that I've had since college.  My vision went out, my arm went numb, part of my face was numb, and my speech was wobbly.

Put your feet in a tub that is filled a few inches with warm water and put a cold cloth (compress, ice pack, whatever you need) on the back of your neck.  Sit like that in the bathroom, in the dark, for a while.  The symptoms will clear somewhat.   Hang in there :)

  • Thanks ladies!!! I went home early after working away in my office with the lights off. I am about to try the cold compress and warm water bath. Even when I step outside its cold where I live I feel a little relief. I totally agree with the poster who mentioned the recurring migraines. The last time u had s migraine was in January and it lasted 2 weeks on and off. Full visual flashes, arm and face paresthesias and heightened gag reflex. I hate those little flashes the most because I know what's around the corner...
I hope you all feel much better soon!!! It's early but I'm going to bed soon.
  • I know of a resource that can evaluate the safety of your prescription and OTC medications, as well as natural supplements during pregnancy or breastfeeding. They can also evaluate other specific exposures you have such as environmental or occupational, or maternal illness. They have proven to be a wonderful resource from personal experience. Best of all, the service is free, and completely confidential. They are state funded so they don’t sell anything or sell your information. It is the Texas Teratogen Information Service; their website is https://www.ttis.unt.edu/ and their phone number is 1-800-733-4727.
  • I've heard:

    Gatorade

Swallow Honey and cinnamon mixed together

Put your feet in hot water and an ice pack (or bag of veggies) on the back of your head.

Just Pinterest things, but my sister swears by the Gatorade thing!
