Re: ::Wake Up, PALers!::

  • We are getting over nasty head colds in our house, and I had the particular displeasure of trying to find a dress to wear to a client's black tie event that wasn't obviously maternity (not out at work yet) and still fit my very bloated self. If was a challenge! I wound up with a maternity dress that, with the proper accessories, won't look "too" maternity like. My thought of just getting a larger size to accommodate the bloat did not work, as that made the tops way too big and I cut the shopping too close to deal with alterations!

My only consolation for leaving the stores feeling lke a flabby hot mess was that the dress I found was on sale for $60. So that was somewhat of a highlight.

We had a nice weekend.  We went out and left DD with a babysitter rather than family for the first time.  It went well and we had fun but we ended up spending more on the babysitter than we did for our evening out!  Who knew babysitters were so expensive?!?!?!  All she did play with DD for 1.5 hours and then watch TV and eat our snacks!

     I'm here!

Weekend was busy but fun.  My little man is 10 months old today so that's exciting.  I have to thank you ladies for your sippy cup suggestions (i.e. to ditch the sippy and try a straw cup)--we got a Zoli and holy cow this kid mastered it in like 2 minutes.  Holds it by himself, and sucks the water out like it's no big deal, while DH and I are like OMG GET THE CAMERA, THIS IS FREAKING AMAZING!  LOL

I have a busy week Stick out tongue but hopefully that just means the weekend is here soon!  Hope everyone is having a great day!

This.  We hired our first sitter a few weeks ago.  It was one of DS's old daycare teachers (we have a nanny now).  $15 an hour!  I guess the "frustrating" thing was that he goes to bed at 7 and we didn't need her until 6 so for the 5 hours we had her, 4 of them she was just chilling with the dogs on the couch.  But whatever, she's fantastic and we're also paying her to be there in case anything goes wrong, not just to physically be in the same room interacting with DS.  But it was still a bit of a shock to have to spend $75 for one night of babysitting.  I guess I remember when I babysat and got $5 an hour.  I also remember when movies were $5.50 at night though so shows how old I am!

I was dealing with a sick DH this weekend which is probably worse than dealing with a sick DD. Hah.

Just here at work grading tests, updating grades, writing exams, all that fun stuff. Then meetings after school until 5:30pm.

  • Happy Monday!

My weekend was good.  DH was out of town so LO and I hung out and spent some quality time together.  He was a perfect gentleman while shopping for some new work clothes for mommy.  The weather was pretty nice and it was an outdoor mall so we got a little bit of sunshine too.

Except I went to put on my new shirt this morning and it had a security tag on it!  And in my cleaning rampage this weekend I'm pretty sure I threw away the receipt.  Grrrr.

We had a fun weekend celebrating DH's birthday.  We actually had a (gasp) date together on Saturday night!  Both of our parents chipped in with me to buy him a chainsaw.  Sexy... lol.

  • I'm here! Smile DD had her first cold this weekend, so we stayed home and sent DH out for food and necessities. Friday morning she spit up 4 times (so says MIL), so I took her home at lunch time and we spent the afternoon on the couch. She had a runny nose and a cough, but nothing major. Saturday morning she had a low grade feaver, so I gave her some Tylenol and it came right down. Suday she had a runny nose still, and today she seems to be on the mend.

We watched a lot of TV on Hulu this weekend. DH and I are thinking of "cutting the cord" on our cable, so it was a good test run of what we can watch on there. There's nothing ever on TV on the weekends, anyways.

ETA: DH also installed our new convertable car seats! This morning was DD's first time riding in her new "big girl seat" and she loved it! I'm going to miss the convenience of the infant carrier, but it was starting to get really heavy carrying her in it!

  • The weekend was blah. Yay for being off work but we were at the tail end of the stomach flu with L and my back is out. BLARG!!! Any time that I wasn't with DS I was parked on the couch bc of my back... watching Revenge on Netflix and then Hulu b/c I was fully engulfed in the series.

I went to the chiro today and pretty much I'm stuck with this flare up from time to time from here on out. With more core strength it will be less likely but when we go from #2 it will be a pain during and after. Sigh. BUT I got adjusted (always scary to me) and so far it's much better though I'm still sore. Back again on Wed.

  • DS has a cold, luckily it seems mild. He has been congested since last Monday, we went to the doctor today just for a check up and his lungs are clear, throat and ears all look good so I'm happy. Now if he would just start sleeping better at night I'd be happier. He goes for his two month wellness appointment Thursday. At 8 weeks 1 day he weighs 13 pounds 4 ounces...so he is definitely eating well! Just graduated to size 2 diapers over the weekend...four blowouts was enough to prompt the up-size!

We celebrated two of my nieces' birthdays Sunday, it was fun and great to get together with the family. DH also has a little runny nose...if that is the worst sickness we get in my house, I'll count my blessings!

Now we are preparing for another snow storm that will start in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. I've already decided if we get over 8 inches I'm not taking DS to daycare and not going to work.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

Interesting.  DH and I are also considering this.  We barely watch TV (occasional PBS series for me, HGTV every once in a while, and baseball during the season for him) and it seems ridiculous to pay for cable but oh boy do we pay.  DS also really does not watch TV (I tried to get him interested to buy me 15 minutes peace here and there but he could care less).

    How was your Hulu test?

We paid $10/hour but paid tolls and gas for her to get to us. We live 30 minutes away from her and she's a high school senior who doesn't have the money for gas.  So worth not having to deal with my parents or ILs though to have anice night out.

  • I am tardy to the party, but I spent the morning at mom's group, then came home and started dinner!  I am trying a new dish to me, braciole, which is a (or seems so to me) fancy schmancy Italian dish!  I saw it on Food Network and I wanted to try it.  Only downside of doing some FN meals is you spend a ton on ingredients.

We are getting over nasty head colds in our house, and I had the particular displeasure of trying to find a dress to wear to a client's black tie event that wasn't obviously maternity (not out at work yet) and still fit my very bloated self.

Ugh, hope you all feel better soon :(

    Yay, little guy!

    Happy Monday!

Grrrr.

I HATE when that happens with the security tags! It makes me so upset that clerks don't check things better.

I'm here!

Aw, hope DD continues to get better! We don't have cable but we do have Netflix, and that works well for us. I'm actually considering getting Hulu Plus, though, too, because there are shows I don't want to wait six months for.

  • We went back home to visit the ILs and my brothers this weekend. Just finished a 9 hour drive home with a 4 month old and three dogs! We're all dead tired. Overall it was a good trip, but I'm SO happy to be home.

Sorry I'm late to respond! Hulu went well! They have all the major network shows I watch, like Grey's Anatomey, Revenge, The Middle, etc. And they're all on there the next day. They also have a verity of kids shows. The only show DD has shown any intrest in is Sesame St. We're also going to get an antenna so we get the local channels. DH is a big baseball fan, too. Some of the games will be on the local chanels, but for the ones that aren't, there's a package from MLB that he wants to get. It's like $150 for the season and he can watch any game from any team he wants.
