Hi baby is 15 days old, weighed 7 lb 7 oz at birth, 7 lb 14 0z at 1 wk check up and 8 lb 1 0z at 2 wk check up today. Dr said she's gaining fine but shed like to see her gain about .5 oz/day. My supply is great but the issue is that baby nurses one side then falls asleep. I've tried all the tricks to keep her awake but none seem to work. Dr said I should be nursing her on both sides at each feeding every 3 hrs. Any tips on how to keep LO awake to nurse more would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Re: How to get sleepy baby to nurse more?
You should be nursing every two hours if growth has been slow. Have you done breast compressions to keep flow of milk steady? Switch sides for increased flow before she gets too drowsy and falls asleep. Change her diaper and offer the other side. She needs to be nursing on both sides.
Is she waking you up at night to nurse? How long is she going at night? How many times in 24 hours do you feed her?
