Not allowed appointment until 7 weeks?

I found out I was pregnant last week and called my OB the next day. They told me they don't take any appointments until I am at least 7 weeks so I have to wait 2 more weeks. Is this normal with most doctors or is this office an exception?

    Normal. My first appointment was yesterday and I was just over 8 weeks. OBs vary on this, but it's certainly not uncommon to schedule your first appointment for after 7 weeks.

    This is normal.  My appt is in a couple days (8 weeks).  Some people on here have even mentioned having to wait till 12 weeks for the first appt.  You got an early one!  If there's anything that you're worried about, you can always call, though.

    My doctor wanted to see me at 10 wks... but I am going on an out of country trip before then and requested seeing him before that and He is seeing me at 7 wks...

    Completely normal. I did the same thing and my dr. Wouldn't schedule me any sooner than 6 weeks, but preferred 78 weeks for the first appt.

    Normal. My OB doesn't see you until 8 weeks.

    My OB's office won't see you until you're 9 to 11 weeks.

    I'd say normal. My doc wouldn't see me until 8 weeks. Same thing happened for 2 friends.

    Totally normal I promise you don't want to go in and them tell you there's not a baby yet because its too early . How disappointing! The wait is worth it to see the little bean and a strong heartbeat!!

    Other than a confirmation urine test, I dont have an OB appt until i am at least 12 weeks. My dr happens to be on vacation that week so i am not being seen until April 15 where I will be nearly 14 weeks!

    Just take care of yourself and eat right. I called my doc as soon as I found out too and she wouldn't take me either. My first apt is this Friday. I will be 8 weeks. Nervous but excited.
