Re: Pregnancy Check-In
I can't believe I'm finally full term! We're so close now to meeting our little guy, and still completely unprepared to do so.
QOTD: I've been really surprised by the reaction of a couple that we know. They are our friends, but not close CLOSE friends. We had been concerned about making sure that little guy has enough good male rolemodels in his life, but hadn't shared this concern with anyone. Completely on their own, this couple has requested to play an active role in his life, and has let us know that they're really looking forward to it! I feel very lucky.

I'm too exhausted to answer the gtky... and I'm not even the pregnant one.
I'm so excited you JGY! I can't wait to hear how out all goes and to see your little guy!
QOTD: My wife. So very good to me. I'm not really surprised, except she is always doing just the right thing to help me. I just love her more every day!

"Things separate from their stories have no meaning. They are only shapes. Of a certain size and color. A certain weight. When their meaning has become lost to us they no longer have even a name. The story on the other hand can never be lost from its place in the world for it is that place.” ― Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing
16 weeks tomorrow and feeling great! More energy, no negative symptoms, have a bit of a bump, all good. We have a midwife appointment tomorrow and I'm looking forward to hearing the heartbeat!
C has been beyond amazingly supportive. On the flip side, a relative of a relative, when hearing our news, asked "are you happy about that?" Um, who says that?! Even it this wasn't a planned pregnancy after 7.5 years together, that's a very odd/offensive question!
Thanks! I'm pretty excited too.

Almost 35 weeks and A is tired. Just tired. I feel really bad for her. I know I went through it twice, but after 6 years I kind of forgot. She is feeling a lot of BH's lately. Lots of pressure on her cervix. Not to mention she isn't sleeping well because she cant get comfortable.
QOTD: Have you been surprised by how supportive a particular person has been of your pregnancy? Or the opposite?
Well I think we were both surprised how involved my mother has become. She is very supportive of our relationship and loves her grand kids she just is usually preoccupied with her own life (she's only 46). The least supportive would be her mom. She expected her mom to come to some Dr appointments etc. Unfortunately A's brother is going through a divorce and her mom has taken on his 2yr old so she doesn't have much time for anything or anyone else. I know it hurts A.
Nearing 10 weeks for me. No updates really. I've hit the first wave of sheer exhaustion and I think I've decided I need to take a major step back in my 2nd job. we're trying to complete debt payoff before this baby, but there's also just so much I can do....I'm super excited about my next appt next week - my first with my OB.
I'm super super hating my job right now. I don't know if that's because my ability for patience is so limited or because it's just run it's course. After all the planning and waiting and banking on FMLA, I'm seriously considering another job. We'll see.
QOTD: Seriously, S is amazing, and while I'm not shocked, I do feel extraordinarily lucky. The amount of empathy and support I'm receiving from her has been amazing. I think we're both settling into the fact that we're about to have to tell our families, which we feel pretty confident won't go well on either side. I think we're just taking this time to really enjoy our news and prepare as partners to handle family reactions and gear up for the amazing support of people that are a part of our daily lives.
I'll be 14 weeks on Thursday and I'm still waiting for my second trimester bump in energy! However, I had to travel from Seattle to Toronto for work this week, so that alone can do me in pregnant or not
All else seems well. My next midwife appt. is on the 8th, I'm looking forward to it even though I don't expect anything terribly exciting to occur.
QOTD: My highschool friends who still live in our tiny PA town on Facebook! Some of them have just been amazing asking how I am, giving me (loving, kind) advice, and just being interested and engaged. Totally unexpected and very sweet and appreciated!
