Babies: 3 - 6 Months

giving baby food

hi just wondering who has solely bf or ff baby until 6 months? i know this is recommended now due to babys system not being mature enough and preventing food allergies. my LO is 4months and im wondering if he will hold out just on milk for another two months? he is a big hungry boy but they say the size of baby does not matter. what are your experiences?

Re: giving baby food

  • I was hoping my lo would hold out for atleast another month but I don't think she's going to make it. she stares at our dinner place intensely and is already up to 8 ounces of formula 5 to 6 times a day don't think formula is doing it for her anymore. I am also hoping that 5 starting solids it'll be due to the excessive amount of that up we deal with everyday.

  • This is our 3 and I EBF until about 8 or 9 months. Our babies sleep 10 hours straight by 10 weeks and have always thieved. I like waiting until I see them munching when we eat. Plus I don't do baby food. My DD was 10 months old with no teeth and was eating steak.

Yup. I EBF my eldest until 6 months. Planning to do the same with the baby. No biggie.

This, except I've already done it the second time. It's not about the size of the baby. It's about that baby being physically ready. Interest in you eating is only a small part of it. They need to have lost their tongue thrust reflex and be able to sit unassisted before they start solids.

    I've never heard this. Why?

I think it's a choking thing and also just general readiness, but there are mixed opinions on this. Some say supported sitter (which would be stage one foods and thinned out cereals, etc.) while others say unassisted. To me unassisted may be a little much because some kids don't sit unassisted until 8 months or so.
