LO has had loose stools for 2 days now. He had 2 blowouts yesterday morning, and then 3 subsequent poops throughout the day. This morning, he woke up at 6am and had pooped twice before 8am. My daycare provider called and said he pooped again when he got there, and then shortly after she fed him some bananas. A little while later, she said he was really fussy and uncomfortable until he was able to pass some gas and poop AGAIN. She said it was watery and gray colored. (TMI, gross - I know).
I googled "gray colored stool" and it said this is common in babies after eating bananas. (wheww). I called the pedi, spoke with the nurse and she said gray poop isn't particularly cause for concern... she said she would talk with my pedi and give me a call back.
Anyone experienced this shittty situation? Could the poop problems be caused by teething? I just wonder if something is going on (virus?) that is causing him the discomfort. His little bottom is SO raw, and I feel helpless. I have been putting some prescription diaper cream on it - I am hoping thats what is best for him at this point.
HELP!
Re: Sick baby? Teething? HELP. (poop post)
We definitely noticed a change in DD's poop when she started teething, and then again when she started solids.
She's never actually had a 'blowout', but the closest she came was when she was at the peak of her teething. Lots of drool made for runny, mucousy poop. Now that she's started solids, I feel like her poop is different every day, literally. I can't speak to the grey poop, because she just had her first bananas this morning, but hopefully your pedi will get back to you soon so that you don't have to worry.
