My daughter will be 8 weeks on Thursday. She's a fairly trim baby (even though she eats like a horse!) but is very long. 3 month sleepers from Carters fit fine, except that she can't straighten her legs.
Some of her 3 month sleepers still fit ok (she can straighten out her legs) but I feel like I've put almost all of them away for being too short. 6mo sizes are too big all the way around.
Is there a children's clothing brand you like, due to its sizing being consistent?
Re: Carter's clothing....sizing weird?
I find that sleepers are the worst for sizing, mostly because of the legs. Even my "average" length baby goes up in sleepers faster than anything. If I were you, I'd just move up to the next size (6m) even though they're a bit big elsewhere.
For all other things, especially onesies, I find that Carters is actually the best for sizing.

With DD, who was very long/tall for her age starting at birth, I didn't do footed pjs for a long time. Instead I used footless pjs and socks if needed. As she got around to walking our house is all hard wood and it made sense to keep on doing footless pjs so I don't think she started wearing the footed kind 'till she was probably around 2yrs old!
DS is very average in height and has been able to wear footed pjs all along. He can also seem to walk just fine in them without slipping all over the way his sister did.
I find Carters to be pretty well sized. Gerber on the other hand runs ridiculously undersized!
I know for DS Carters has always been my favorite. Their clothes tend to be more on the long and lean side. Some brands, like Children's Place comes to mind, don't work for him at all because they're so wide. By the time he's not swimming in them everything is too short! He was always spot on with Carters sizing.
Every baby is built differently. You'll find out what works best for you here soon!

Didn't realize the Carters brand from Target ran differently....but after investigating a few 3mo sleepers we received from actual Carters v. Target, the difference is completely noticeable.
My long baby and I appreciate the input!
Carter's clothing seems to fit our DS the best. He is rather long, so many of the footed sleepers irritate him to no end. We purchased more of the footless ones for him and just place socks on him if it is cold.
While Old Navy's clothes are adorable and reasonably priced, I have found that they stretch horribly. Not a big fan right now!
