Has anyone's mood been different with Mirena?

I got Mirena in July I believe, and it was great for awhile. I was a little frazzled but I chalked it up to having a newborn. The past few months though have been...different. My SO says I'm always grouchy, I don't seem to care about anything, I'm just blah. I've been feeling that way myself lately and jus recently thought it could be Mirena. I'm thinking of making an appointment to have it removed. Have any of you had similar issues?

  • I had Mirena before I had my DS. I loved it and had no side effects at all after it was inserted. Good luck!

  • I've had Mirena since early January and haven't noticed a change in moods since I got it.
  • I had mirena after dd 1 and was fine. The hormones are non systemic, meaning they don't go into your blood stream, so they can not affect your mood. Do you think it might just be general stress and anxiety? I know I'm still struggling some days w the adjustment of having 2.
  • honestly some people do suffer from mood changes even my ob said she was one of them when she had it herself but there is no scientific evidence or proof to it..

  • I know when I was on the pill, my mood was blah. Before you get your mirena taken out, I would encourage you to talk to someone about PP despression. Although months out, this year is tough and I would hate for your mood to worsen and something bad to happen.
  • I have an appointment to talk to my gyno before I do anything. I have never felt so blah before Mirena. It's also affecting the sex life which in turn is a downer in my relationship : I have absolutely no desire to hop in bed ever, and not because I'm tired. I've got plenty of sleep!

  • I had mine put in this past August.  My husband says that my mood is definintely different and I've really been noticing it too.  I feel more irritable towards him and feel like he's "not doing enough".  I too have no desire to hop in bed.  DD usually goes to sleep around 9 and I follow and my alarm goes off at 5:30, so as long as she will sleep through I am getting enough sleep.  Even saying that I am exhausted.  He thinks its the mirena and I just brush it off and tell him it's not that it's him.  Ugh.  Not really sure what to do considering this is the first time I've ever been on BC and we had to pay out of pocket for the Mirena.  Good luck to you and let us know what is said!
