Success after IF

Fibroids and pregnancy

So my Mother told me my brother and his wife are expecting. They have been seeing an RE. This is great news because they were able to get pregnant just with Clomid where the RE had been encouraging them to go to IVF. They are keeping it on the down low, though, because of her fibroids. She has had two surgeries to remove fibroids and apparently they are growing back during the pregnancy and so they are worried about miscarriage. Anyone here have any success stories with pregnancy and fibroids?

Re: Fibroids and pregnancy

  • I have a friend IRL with a similar story. She is about 17 weeks along now. She sees a high risk OB who is keeping a close eye on the fibroids, but so far she is doing well. Hope everything works out for your SIL!

  • I'm a success story! My mother had a large fibroid during her pregnancy. I don't know many details about how/ when it was discovered, but she did say it was serious enough for them to believe she would need a hysterectomy after pregnancy. It went away after my birth. My mother had a very "easy" pregnancy (her third) and delivered a very tiny, but healthy baby at 37 weeks =).

  • Thanks for the responses!  I am glad to hear of the success stories.  I was worried when I heard that her fibroids were giving her trouble again during her pregnancy.
