diapers for large baby?

My almost one-year-old is a big boy: 97% for height and 78% for weight.  His size 6 night-time diapers are starting to cut into his thigh.  I can only find diapers up to size 6.  Do I put him in night-time pull-ups in his size and just treat them as diapers, not training pants?

Re: diapers for large baby?

  • Do you use overnight diapers or just regular? We went up a size in the overnights and we haven't had any issues. We have a big baby and haven't had any issues.

  • Where on his thigh is it cutting in? Do you mean more of the "bikini" area? Do you have leaks or anything?

  • How tall and how much does LO weigh? I ask, because at a year, DD1 was like 30-31 ins and 26 lbs, so really big. I believe she was a size five diaper in pampers, but was a four in a nighttime diaper from huggies. I would try different diapers, or a cruiser that is more low profile. I say this only because pull ups will cost you more. It could be that you just need to find a better fitting brand diaper. Also, if it is an issue of LO leaking, there are inserts you can put it for nighttime. Think old fashioned pads that act as a backup. And I know I have seen size seven diapers. Good luck!

  • What brand diaper are you using? I've found that different brands run small. Pampers seem to run big. So a size 6 in luvs is smaller than a size 6 in pampers.

Size 3 in luvs are really tight on my son,  but a size 3 in pampers fit him perfectly. also, pampers cruisers may be have more "give" then pampers baby dry.
