Any one else experiencing very regular, almost too regular, like 2 or 3 times a day BMs. I thought constipation was supposed to be what to expect at this stage???
Me! I feel like all I do is poop! I'm 17 weeks and have been like this from the beginning. I asked my ob about it at my last visit and she said adding more calcium should help it but I hasn't for me. I guess I shouldn't complain because it's better than pain from constipation, but for me it's annoying and can be very inconvenient!
Can't say I have this problem. I am on medication now to soften my stool from constipation. It hurts to go. Be lucky you aren't on the opposite end of the spectrum.
I suppoooose this is better than constipation but even to me quite constipated quite constantly lol it sounds pretty friggin' annoying. If ur Doc said calcium should help and it isn't maybe ur body isnt absorbing it very well. You could try getting some more vitamin D. Extra vitamin C couldn't hurt either if ur low on that. Anyhoo good luck with this, sounds like a crappy problem... Heh that was a vury shamefully bad pun.
Are you eating a lot of foods rich in fiber? I know yogurt and whole grains (whether it be cereal or bread) usually make ppl go more. Also, caffeine has that effect on ppl. I agree with the other posters, be glad you are going often. I was consipated during 1st tri for 2 weeks and i still am terrified its going to happen again. It was worse than vomiting and nausea combined - wouldnt wish it upon anyone! Plus i like bm - makes me feel skinnier

I would be more than happy to trade places with you in that department I've been very constipated and it is extremely uncomfortable at times. You're blessed!! :-)
Thanks for the great comments. I guess I just get worried if I don't experience a certain symptom that something's wrong.
But yeah it is much better than painful constipation, except that when you're at work, it's kind of annoying to have 'to go' at work. I want to be in my own house.
And yes I do eat a lot of wholegrains, fibres and fruit. And lots of water.
Having 2 to 3 BMs a day is a normal healthy amount of bowel function especially if you are having 2 to 3 larger meals each day and if the BMs are normal consistency.
I am actually getting back to that kind of normal bowel function...thankfully, as I enter to the 2nd trimester.

Me too!! I am laying in bed bc my bum hurts so much right now.
I've always been pretty regular 2-3 times a day and when they started me out on my 1st thing of prenatal vitamins I was having such a hard time going! So I had to call them and ask for something different since it's not an issue for me I had to ask for a prenatal that doesn't have a stool softner b/c it was causing me to have bouts of diarrhea (which who wants to deal w/that! lol)
After they switched me though all has been good! I count myself as blessed and when I have a day I'm backed up I make sure to eat some fiber rich foods and I'm back on track.
Re: Bowel movements
This is my third and I have never got constipated with any of my pregnancies. Be happy that you aren't.

I had very regular (weirdly regular) bowel movements when I was pregnant but before then, I was only going 2x a week or so.
Not everyone experiences the same symptoms, don't anticipate constipation, it might not happen for you.
If you notice any trouble going in the future, ask your doctor for a safe stool softener to try to avoid hemerhoids.
