1st Trimester

Cramping?

I asked a nurse about cramping today, and I am just wondering, did any of you have cramping? I never did with my last pregnancies, so it is throwing me for a loop and making me crazy. She said if I am not doubled over in pain it is fine, but it just makes me nervous. They are not dull all the time either. Sometimes they are sharp ones on the sides of my lower abdomen...did anyone else have this?

Re: Cramping?

  • This is my first pregnancy, and I was cramping today. I asked a mama friend and she said she always gets cramps early in her pregnancy and that it's just the uterus growing to make room.

ETA: Mine weren't sharp or anything though. Just uncomfortable.

  • I'm having this right now as well. This is my 4th child and they say the more you have the worse it gets. I never had any pain like this with my other ones. Went to MW today and was told I cant tell you that your not having a MC and I can't tell you that you that your not having contractions but there is nothing me you or anyone else can do about it. I completly understand how you feel and can't wait to get through the next few weeks.
  • I totally understand how you feel and agree with PP's.

I have cramping too and just read this:

     Hope that helps!

  • This is my first pregnancy, so I can't speak to what's normal - but from what I've read on the boards and other resources, it sounds pretty normal. Mine were present was week 4 and they continue to wax and wane as I go into my 7th. They feel a lot like period cramps (kind of warm and all over my uterine region), but sometimes are more sharp and one-sided.

  • Thank you every one...this pregnancy is driving me nuts. I keep having crazy dreams, I am constantly wondering what is going on with my body, wondering what is normal and what is not. I just want this baby so bad, and i want everything to be okay. I don't want my son and his next sibling to be 7 years apart like my sister and I were, so I guess I am just doing what I did not do my last one...ask a ton of questions.

  • I have had cramping, usually a little each day. My doctor said it could be round ligament pain.
