Shoe Size

I am trying to order a stride-rite SRT shoe, but there shoe size chart is a little confusing to me.  (It might be the lack of sleep, but whichever.)  I've used their little shoe size printable chart, and I think the chart is for toddlers 2-5 years.

The SRT shoe comes in sizes starting from a 3.  What the ?... I'm so lost.

In either case, what shoes are your LO's wearing?  I need something she can walk in at the park.  I have no idea what the sizing situation is for their age either.

Any insight or help is appreciated.  Otherwise, mommy is just going to get herself a pair of boots!  =)

Re: Shoe Size

  • I bought the Stride Rite Artie shoes for my son and they're great. They fit really well and they're super easy to get one and off. My son has huge feet and wears a 6W.

What is your confusion with the sizing? Did you think your daughter wore a smaller size and that the SRT isn't available in her size? If you have a Nordstrom close to you, they sell Stride Rite and can get a good measure for you there if you want to be absolutely sure of the size. Someone just recently posted some questions about what size shoes that 11 month olds wear and the answers were all over the place so you can't really base it off of age!

  • You need to take your LO to the store to be fitted for shoes.  You can't do sizing by age for shoes since it seems to vary so much.  My LO wears 3.5 wide.  I was so bummed because my SIL gave me several really nice shoes size 3 regular width and DD never got to wear them.

  • I highly recommend taking LO in to get them fitted. DS is between a 4 and a 5, so I've been buying 5's since he's still rarely in shoes and that way he has a little room to grow.

My kid is huge and has super wide feet though so I think 5 is on the large size for this age.

  • DD1 was a 4.5WW at 11 months. DD2, who is taller, seems to have smaller feet. Since she just started walking on her own (yay!) I put her in a pair of stride rites that we never used on DD1. They were too long and wide. You need to take LO in to be fitted. I put the shoes on DD2, and it was like she could no longer walk because they were so foreign to her. I am going to hold off a couple of weeks and let her get used to walking first before I buy her walking shoes. Luckily, we live in a warm climate and she is usually indoors anyway, so shoes are not a top concern.

  • Oliver is one of the older March babies born in February, we bought him stride-rites for his birthday. He is wearing a size 4.5. My 3 year old at this age was in a size 4. Hopefully this helps. I thought that they had a size chart you can print out. Maybe not anymore?

  • She's in a 5. I took her to Stride Rite last weekend to get her sized and get her first pair of shoes. :) I've heard of others having trouble with the printable chart. Do you have a location near you to visit?
