Trying to Get Pregnant

Those with REs

In case you don't know my story: we've been TTC now since Jan. 2012 with 2 confirmed losses, and a weird maybe loss this past cycle. My doctor just OKed me to start taking progesterone after O to help with my short LP. She is giving us 3 more cycles to get pregnant before she refers me to an RE.

My question is, am I just wasting my time here? I love my OB and shes been great, but should I be pushing harder for the referral at this point?

Re: Those with REs

  • If it were me I'd just go to an RE. I was in the same place a few months ago and after talking with the REs office, they said if you do testing or anything with an obgyn, the RE will most likely redo it. So to save time and money, just going to the RE is easier.

  • If I were you, I would go see a RE, they might want to do more testing related to your losses and such.

  • As someone who did all my testing with an OB and started to do clomid... I'm totally advising to go right to anRE. Do you need a referral? I not just go. If you do fight harder. It's really worth it. And my OB wasn't bad at all, but it makes a world of difference.
  • I would go straight to the RE, I did some of the baseline testing with an OB but then after 14 cycles we decided to seek an expert. Luckily I am able to get my records faxed so I don't need to pay for anything twice. It's really up to you!

  • +1 for going to an RE. I kind of see it as a better 2nd opinion. GL!

  • Did your OB check your progesterone level at all before prescribing supps?

    I'd go to an RE.

  • I've only ever been with an RE so I don't know how different they treat situations, but I do know that my RE keeps up with me the second I am pregnant. So you could be much better monitored during a pregnancy, which is reassuring. So I vote ask for a referral now or find one yourself. :)
