Question for you: after your bout with this, did you continue to use lanolin on your nipples post feeding? I ask because I am wondering if keeping my nipples moist with lanolin is not a good idea, since my discharge instructions call for keeping the nipple clean and dry. Thoughts? TIA

Re: CallMeAl
Eta do you have cracks? Do you use a shield?

Also, did you use nursing pads? I feel like I should to try and shield the cracked area from exposure to outside elements...
Sorry, lurking, but call your dr and ask for a prescription for magic nipple cream yes that is the real name of it. My LC said you do need to keep applying cream to help heal a crack. This stuff keeps the nipple healing, but is also antifungal and antimocrobial and safe for baby. When you are done with it, it makes awesome diaper rash cream, too.
This sounds like miracle stuff! I'm keeping a mental note for (hopefully) our next baby.
JME - I also used these soft shell nipple cup things to protect my injured nipple, and while they look ridiculous, I used them at home constantly. Good luck!
