Behavioral therapist long vent

I have been busting my butt to get the private behavioral therapist into DS's school to observe and for us to decide what behavior plan would be best for the DS's IEP.

She has not gone because she has been moving for the past 2 months.

She has been meeting with my ABA student so they can work together to help DS.

I have just found out she is a stuck up PHD student this past Saturday. She said they have already observed DS already and I can already decide what behavior plan. Not true. I have worked and fought this hard for her to go in and observe and she is giving me crap.

I need an FBA and I have 2. If I can rely on one, it is the diagnostician at the moment. I hope she can finish her work before we meet.

The BT has said that all the district professionals doing DS's evaluation do not have credentials and that I should only rely on people like her working on clinicals for a PHD. SHe has said that the district people are friends of friends that got their job positions.

Then she was trying to convince me to cancel the IEP meeting to change it to a Wednesday so she can go. But then of course her daughter is due with her baby any time soon in March. She may not go after all.

The whole entire school is doing IEP's so they are booked solid. I told her I don't mind all that much about the date.

She has taken credit for advising me to do social stories and a picture schedule for DS. I just showed her to tell her what I am doing for DS. My two friends from the autism society actually helped me do the social stories. Some of you girls gave me advice to do social stories, too. She even has started saying to my ABA therapist that we should start worrying about potty training at 6 or 7 years old!

The only strong advice she gives is on tantrums.

I just invited her and 3 other private therapists. I don't care if they attend or not. I am just saddened by the way she acted.

I am not sure if I should continue on with her. We have been seeing her since May 2012.

    Neither one of them has done the observations yet to complete the BIP.

    The IEP is on Monday, March 11 and the diagnostician has till March 16 (by then they have 60 days from when I requested all 4 evaluations: occupational, social, physical and diagnostic).

    I don't know what a BCBA is.

    The school social worker said that the BT was not allowed to observe DS to determine a BIP and I wanted her to observe to help DS. I fought for her to go into the school to do just that.

    This maybe the best thing for DS to be evaluated by the school district because all the professionals come together and talk about it together. This is as good as it is going to get for a small town.

    I could do this a different way but I would have to drive 3 hours in any direction to a bigger city to get a team of professionals to evaluate DS.

    And is there much difference in medical autism and educational autism?

    She can go in because I called the school district. She just has not gone to observe.

    I just hope everything falls into place. I still need my BT to observe in hopes of she will follow through.
