Lifting restriction???

Hey ladies! I had my first Dr. appt. last week and she put me on a 35lb. lifting restriction. I was doing some weight lifting prior to being pregnant, and for the most part, my upper body lifting was less than that. But does anyone know if that includes lower extremity things as well like squats? Just trying to figure out what I can still do safely at the gym! Thanks!

  • I would call for clarification.

  • I would do as these posters have said and talk with your doctor for clarification. Squats are a full body workout so they do not just affect your legs. Perhaps you can supplement and do leg presses, which uses less of your body and more on your thighs and some glutes. Squats involve your legs, glutes, stomach, back, and some pectoral muscles (which is why I love them so much).

As always, if you need to tone it down a little, do not be sad or afraid to do so. Muscles can rebuild, some injuries can't.

  • Why are you on a lifting restriction? I would clarify with your doctor. I've been doing my same weight lifting routine since I got pg, but I'm not high risk for any reason.
