Trying to Get Pregnant

Right days?

Hi everyone. This is my first time posting here. I guess I am just looking for some positive feedback. Well, i got my period on 2/12/13. My fiance and I had sex on the 19th, 21st, and 22nd. When I got home from work on the 22nd I tested positive on my opk, which is why we dtd that day. I am assuming that since I got a positive on the 22nd, I ovulated the 23rd. I guess I am wondering how high you all think my chances are of conceiving and also if anyone here has conceived on the day or two before ovulation. Also (and I apologize for tmi), but once I was done with my period we dtd every other day, aside from the two consecutive days right before ovulation. I feel like that was almost too much. I thought by having sex more throughout the month he would feel more comfortable to perform when it came closer to ovulation and the time that mattered. It seemed like by the time we got to the 21st and 22nd day, not much semen actually came out. This also worries me and I don't know if it matters how much actually comes out as long as the sperm counts are fine. I'm sorry if this was all over the place. Like I said, it's my first time posting and it's hard to word things exactly right :). Thanks in advance for any advice!

  • Ditto what Banker said.  If you had sex during your fertility window, your chances of conception are 20%.

  • It can take a  healthy couple a year to get pregnant and like the other ladies said, it is a 20% chance every month and that is with perfect timing. You might not have even ovulated on the 23. I get positive OPK's for 2 days, most months.

That's all any of us can do, some of us have been charting for months to years, knowing exactly when we ovulate and hitting the best timing imaginable, and still every month is a crapshoot in the end on whether conception occurs or not. It either happens or it doesn't.

    All ALers welcome!

  • Every other day (EOD) is the recommended amount for getting KU. That said, not all men produce enough sperm for that to be recommended for them. It isn't necessarily a problem and doesn't necessarily need to be looked into right away.

His production might ramp up as his body gets in tune with EOD. Or you might find that every third day is better for him/semen production before and after the fertile window. Though you also don't need huge amounts to get pregnant.

    Good luck.

  • Thank you for the response. I'm not sure if I am being paranoid about every little thing or what. I won't know for another 1.5-2 weeks. I guess depending on how things go we may have to adjust the schedule. Thanks again Smile
  • It's kind of scary thinking about how slim the odds actually are, even after doing everything right Confused
