Should I try to stop the sperm from leaking out after sex?

After your partner ejaculates, the fluid that carries the sperm liquefies and most of it runs out of your body. But your body can?t use and doesn?t need that fluid, so that?s fine. Sperm are speedy little guys and can actually make their way to the fallopian tubes within five to ten minutes of ejaculation. Many experts do recommend lying on your back with a pillow under your hips for about 15 to 20 minutes after intercourse. The consensus is that it can?t hurt and may in fact help.

TB has this on their main page... The last sentence stating to lay back on a pillow for 15-20min after sex is a good thing??? I thought in the Newbie link they frown upon that and say to quickly go to the BR and rinse. Because it can cause YI. SOOO, am I supposed to sit back and hang out with my semen friends for 20min or am I supposed to rush to clean up the mess?

It seems like, from what I have read, the general consensus among the ladies on this board is that TB is idiotic in recommending this and you should go to the BR immediately after sex. That being said, I usually cuddle with MH a little after coitus, and then get up, so I probably have a 5-10 minute window after ejaculation. Mind you, I am not pregnant yet, so it clearly hasn't been helping much.

I would like to know who their "many experts" are.

I'm neutral on this point. Sometimes I lay there, sometimes I don't. My results: the month I didn't lay there, I got a UTI. Still not pregnant.

I have not had a UTI or YI yet but that's because I simply cannot stand jizz going into my as$ Crack. So I immediately run to the bathroom and then I come back to cuddle. However, if it will help with conception I will take the jizz in the crack if needed to get pregnant.

There is so much wrong with this. It takes sperm a minimum of 30 minutes to reach the Fallopian tubes.

After ejacualtion the good sperm are already on their way to the target and no need to propping'. Propping your hips after sex can lead to UTI.

I will take this as a compliment, as I love Big Bang Theory. However, I warn you now that I have no idea about quantum physics or anything science related and I have no hope or dream of winning a Nobel prize. Sheldon and my love of the "c" word is where the similarities end.

It is probably easier to get the sperm right up in the ute as an ice cube and then let it melt while standing on your head.

You might have an idea there. Suggest it to TB for an upcoming blog.

I know that this is clearly not this board's consensus, but I have two friends [both pregnant] who swear by this. They both TTC for months before trying this, and then month they put their legs in the air, BAM! BFP so they say.

I tried this month, and I didn't get a UTI/YI, but I'm not prone to them either. I don't know if it really helps, but it didn't seem to hurt me this month at least.

I am not prone to UTI's so I don't get up to pee right away, but I don't prop... I also have never been pregnant so take that with a grain of salt.

But, I just wanted to throw it out there that some women do swear by it, and it doesn't cause UTI/YIs in every person. i wanted to toss it out there as everyone else on here seems to think its the craziest idea ever.

My mother swears that touching maternity clothes by mistake got her pregnant every.single.time. and would warn me as a teen to NEVER TOUCH MATERNITY CLOTHES. She also never got a UTI from touching a maternity top.

So, yeah.

I never prop, but I never just run to the bathroom after either, I usually lay and cuddle for 5-10 minutes, or just fall asleep if we've had early morning sex and I still have an hour or two before I have to get up. I've never had a UTI/YI, but of course that's just me. I also never lay in the wet spot, I usually try to shimmy my asss over so that it lands on hubby's side of the bed. I figure it's his deposit, he can deal with the wet spot.
