Good morning all,
I'm almost embarrassed to ask this question even if you all are internet strangers. Saliva is the primary lubricant when it comes to sex with my H. Through stalking these forums and other research I've done on the internet, I've learned that the PH in saliva is not good for sperm (deadly actually) and that many of you use Preseed instead.
Do we know how detrimental saliva really is to conception? Do you all avoid that at all costs?
Re: Saliva kills sperm?
Out of all lubricants, saliva is actually the worst for sperm. Check out this article, and I'd suggest you try preseed instead of spit:

nooB question. The other night I started out our bang sesh with oral sex and told my DH to wipe all the spit off and use the sheets to dry it off (we washed after). But then after the oral and the drying we BD. Was that a bad choice or are we ok because we dried it off first??
Thanks!!
This. I remember reading about the studies that showed that saliva kills sperm, and they basically put some sperm in a beaker full of saliva and then checked to see how many were still alive after several minutes (which grosses me out just thinking about it.) The amount that is left over from oral sex is not really significant (at least not for most people.) Think about it this way - if saliva was THAT effective at killing sperm, the condom industry would be in big trouble. Everyone would just use a little spit to prevent pregnancy.
And for anecdotal evidence that is proof of nothing - my son was conceived after some major saliva swapping.
i got pregnant using saliva.
if saliva could be used as birth control we wouldn't need birth control pills and condoms...
