num, num, nummy hands

num, num, nummy hands

Anyone else's baby/babies going through a phase where they are so distracted by the world around them that they hardly eat during the day and thus wake up more at night to eat?  I swear no matter what I do my boys are convinced that nothing will taste as good as their num, num, nummy hands right now.  I turn off the tv, radio, everything and don't make eye contact when I feed them and they still show little interest.  Hoping this phase ends soon.  This mommy needs some longer stretches of sleep at night.

  • Dude! My child makes himself gag by attempting to put both hands in his mouth at once. Its hillarious and pitiful all at once.

  • Oh yes.  I'm FF, but as soon as she sees the bottle, she grins, pants, and starts flailing her arms and legs.  But once we get settled and she's eating, she's looking all around, formula running down her chin because she's stopped sucking the nipple.  Silly kid!

  • Mine has been going through this for a while.  I finally figured out that I need to feed him when he wakes up from a nap because he's still sleepy and isn't distracted by thinking about his toys yet.  Ha!  It's getting better though.  He's still distracted, but now it seems like he'll eat whenever he's hungry.  So I'm thinking it's just a short phase!

Mine do this too.  I tandem feed them via bottles in the boppies.  Often I give one a toy and try to feed the other in my arms.  More milk ends up on me and the baby than in their mouth.  Yikes.

Good idea.  I avoid this only because they don't both wake up at the same time and I try to feed them at the same time, but I suppose it would be worth it for them to be on different schedules if they will actually eat more during the day.
