Has the # of kids or spacing changed

since the arrival of LO?

After a rough few nights perhaps one and done wouldnt be so bad. IDK but I think I am going to want to wait until the first 6 weeks have been erased from my memory before we talk about TTC.

  • I was a one and done before LO came along but I can't believe how much I love this baby. We definitely want another when she's about 4 and well out of diapers.

  • The spacing definitely has changed. We're probably going to wait till Ian is 2 before TTC again.

  • No. Right now, the timing of our children is based on finances. I wanted our kids to be 18 months to 2 years apart and I've always wanted 3. Now we're looking at waiting 4ish years for the next one because daycare is breaking us.

I think we'll still go for number 3 because I think my husband really wants a boy.
  • After DD I really thought I could be done and be ok. Then when she turned one I really wanted to have another one and thought vwe would talk about trying again after she turned 2. Then when she was 15 months old, Suprise, I got ku. I was realllllllllly scared having them almost 2u2 but it hasnt been as bad as I thought. I definitely dont think I could have dont it earlier but I love the age spacing that we are at. I based my off of having crudy pregnancies I forgot the newborn stage very quickly but couldnt forget how hard being pregnant was.

  • If you ask me today, I'd say one and done...it might be a different story in a year.

Edit, if we do, it will be sooner rather than later. DH and I are both already 33...so if we are going for number 2...we will try to get pregnant later next year and hope for a Summer of 2015 baby.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • Heh, we have a rule around here, we don't make any decisions about having/not having future kids while pregnant or in the trenches of parenting (so, when we're going through a rough patch whether that be newbornhood or going through a rough time with our toddler!).  It's just not the right time.  Wait until things have calmed down, then reevaluate!

As far as us, we never had a set goal for number of kids or spacing, we're just kind of taking things one at a time.  We'll wait a while before we seriously talk about a #3, but we're both open to the idea at this time.

  • Haha... I always said I only wanted 1. DH has always said 2 or 3... He told me last night, he's going to get snipped. Cracked me up. I told him to go for it.

  • I might be in the minority but lately I have been thinking sooner rather than later. Part of me just wants to get the ball rolling (I'm almost 33) and I like the idea that the babies would be close in age. That being said, I want my body to recuperate fully first and want  to make sure I have adequate energy for my baby. Pregnancy took a lot out of me during the first trimester... maybe i'm forgetting what that felt like :)

  • Pregnancy made me re-think spacing.  I was thinking 1.5-2 years before getting pregnant, now I am thinking 3 years or so would be better.  DH and I decided we want to get finances in better order and buy a home before baby #2.  I also want to focus on my health and enjoy the time with DD before getting pregnant again.  As of now I still think 3 will be my ideal number.

  • I honestly can't believe how easy this journey has been for us, I feel very blessed. We talk about 2 almost daily. SO says lets do it now, no thanks! I will hopefully be pregnant again by next summer. One thing is for sure tho, I will plan it so LO isn't a flu season baby! Ideal would be an AprilSeptember baby.

  • I have always wanted 2 and that hasn't changed. As for spacing, that hasn't changed much either. I just can't decide whether or not to aim for a Summer/Fall 2014 baby, or a summer/fall 2015 baby. A lot depends on whether I would get enough hours to take the whole year off for Mat leave (Canada here) or not if we were to aim for 2014 baby..
Also I am 30 and DH is 36 so that plays a part as well.

  • We have one DD who is 27 months.  DD2 wasn't planned for January 2013.  We were planning on starting to try for #2 over the summer/fall of 2012.  Well... obviously we made an oops!  I would trade in DD2 for the world, I love her to pieces and love that we are a happy family of 4.

However... I would prefer that DD1 would have been a little older.  It is tough some days.  DD2 goes through phases where all she wants to do is nurse, so I can't play much with DD1.  It also makes it tough to discipline some times when I am stuck to the couch nursing.

If DH and I go for #3, we are going to wait a few years.  While I love that my two girls are close in age, I want to enjoy them before another one comes!

  • We are still undecided past this LO. DH wants a second within 2 years or after 5 years...I wish we could financially handle me being a SAHM and have 3 or 4

  • We used to want two kids but before having DS we were leaning towards one. Now that he is here we definitely want two again! Probably because we were blessed with an easy going, calm baby ANSI had a really easy labor and delivery. Our pediatrician said our son is an easy baby, meaning that the next one we have will probably be a terror to make up for it! I always wanted to wait awhile in between kids. My brother and I are four years apart and that's way too much. Now I'm thinking sooner than later. I'm 32 now.
  • No. There is almost a 3 year gap between 1 & 2. I'm hoping that I can start on #3 when 2 is around 18 months.
