Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Body image

now that you ladies have had your babies for a while now, how are you feeling about your bodies? have your stretch marks faded away? do you feel comfortable in your skin? I've had such a hard time during this pregnancy and I'm down to the last 6-7 weeks and I just cannot WAIT to not feel like this anymore. Tell me there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!! any words of encouragement?

Re: Body image

  • I looked fabulous after I had LO for about 2 months. Then I gained 15 pounds. I am still struggling to eat like a normal person and not feel like I can get away with murder with my awesome pregnancy metabolism. My reunion with soda was also on epic proportions.

Stretch marks have faded. Boobs look about normal (they were weird looking for a few months- not BFing)  Stomach is still loose, but eh. This is probably a me only thing, but I was very boxy pre-preg so I was loving the new hips. I feel curvier and sexier (on most days :) )

    holy cute baby!!!! :)

i was already pretty curvy pre-pregnancy and I'm Russian/Czech, so I've got those cheeks - which have multiplied from this weight gain. I just hate my body so much. It's so hard to see myself go from fit to ... whatever this is ...I get that I'm pregnant, but I just want to get back to normal ASAP and I'm scared it's not gonna happen

  • I had the same worries during my pregnancy! Gaining so much weight in such a short time is overwhleming. It doesn't matter when people say "Oh, you're pregnant you are supposed to gain weight"- when you gain 40 pounds in a 4 months your mind doesn't have time to process it. About a month after I gave birth, I was really depressed with my new body. I had a very hard time even letting DH see my naked. I started using Weight Watchers online so I can do everything from my phone and started doing DVD work outs just to tone up and I feel so much better now. It just took me a little while to except that my body wouldn't look the same right away. Give yourself time and reasonale expectations..you'll be a hot mommy in no time! :)

  • I feel the same way! I didn't gain much weight during pregnancy (6 lbs) but I was heavier to begin with. DH has been out of town on business the past week and was home Saturday and said I look much thinner but I just don't see it. On the 0-3 month board there are a bunch of us writing in a post to keep ourselves accountable to help get back into shape and eat healthy if you want some support! It's called back in shape post! I think it's so helpful!

  • I feel pretty good about my body. I lost all the weight pretty quickly and am back down to 119. My stomach muscles are nonexistent and I have some flab, can tell when I'm clothed though. I just need to get off my butt and work my abs before summer  ;) what really bothers me are my pale skin and under eye circles from lack of sleep. I put on makeup everyday, even to stay home, or else I feel like I look horrible.
  • I feel much better since I've had LO. Those last few weeks are tough.  I gained 32 lbs.  After giving birth I lost all but 10 immediately.  Those last 7 seem to be sticking with me.  I haven't had time to work out, between LO and a FT job (6:30 am - 5 pm with an hour long commute one way) there just aren't enough hours in the day.  I have some extra skin in the stomach area, no stretch marks that weren't there previously,  I'm a little on the older side so that probally doesn't help either since my metabolism isn't what it used to be, we also FF.  Everyone tells me I look great not like I just had a baby.  The key was to buy bigger clothes, you can't tell when I'm dressed.  I only went up one size.  I'm not completely happy with the way I look now, but when LO smiles at me when I get home nothing else seems to matter.  Eventually the rest of the weight will fall off or I'll just get used to it.  My body has definately changed.

  • breastfeeding helps you burn up to 650 calories per day. need i say more.....im feeling great 4months on and im thanking the breastfeeding for it. i didnt breastfeed my first and i notice a huge difference on how quickly my weight has come down x
  • I am starting to love my new body.

I look a lot healthier than before I got pregnant (I was a bit underweight), and I just feel better for the most part.

As for stretch marks, mine are not gone. I don't think they all ever completely go away. Mine are pretty unnoticeable to other people (my husband says he doesn't see them), but since I know exactly where they are, I see them really well haha.

The things I don't like about my new body:
My boobs are HUGE. I can't do any kind of exercise (that isn't walking) without my boobs jiggling. It sucks big time, but I'm glad that I am still BF-ing.
I also don't like that my face has started to break out. When I was pregnant, I didn't get ANY acne.
I also hate that my hair has started to fall out.

For the most part though, I'm pretty okay with how my body looks.
