Amoxicillin

Has anyone ever taken amoxicillin while pregnant? I went to an urgent care for sinus congestion and ear pain yesterday and they prescribed an amoxicillin. I told her I was expecting, but she said with the symptoms persisting for over 1 week now it was necessary to clear up the sinus infection and ear ache. I'm just a little hesitant in taking it without talking to my OB first.

What did your OB say when you called them first thing this morning? I'm assuming you called them already.

Amoxicillin is definitely safe to take while pregnant!

yes, checked with my Dr too-- i started last week (and am still taking) for the exact same thing as you! i refuse to suffer through something where i feel THAT bad if there is safe medicine out there!

Yes, I've taken it. With a sinus/ear infection for over a week you must be miserable. Hope it clears up soon!

I just finished a 10 day course for a sinus infection. It doesn't help much with the morning sickness but it's worth it to be able to breath again.

my ob prescribed it for me last week for my uti. i trust he wouldnt give me something that wasnt safe. its fine.

I took Amoxicillin during my whole last pregnancy for constant UTI's. Never get UTI's when I'm not pregnant, but tend to get them more when I am. I gave birth to a very healthy baby girl. In other words, YES it is safe:)
