s/o Trashy Magazines

Another post got me to wondering...if you like "trashy" magazines, do you get a subscription or just buy them at the store? I always feel like I am disappointed with magazine subscriptions unless they have recipes or patterns that I can save for later. On the other hand, I hate to shell out the extra money to buy them off the stands. Judging by the cricket-noises coming from my bedroom, it is time to invest in some Cosmo or something. hahaha

Re: s/o Trashy Magazines

  • The only one I like is "People," and I always catch up on that when I get my hair done.

  • I have to be in the right mood for trashy magazines, so I usually pick them up on a whim at the grocery store checkout.
  • If you sign up for freebieshark www.freebieshark.com I was able to sign up for a free year subscription for Cosmo . My best friend got a free subscription for ok! So she gives me those when she's done. My SIL gives me her old magazines too which range from cooking to Martha Stewart to Elle. Honestly I have two huge piles if magazines that I need to read lol

  • I don't have subscripitions to any "trashy" type mags- but am guilty of buying a US Weekly, People, OK or In Touch at the checkout line if I like the stories on the cover.

I'd say its only once a month, probably less.

  • I don't have a subscription to any trashy magazines.  If a story looks interesting I will either page through it at the super market or I will buy just the 1 issue. My magazine subscriptions are all related to food, health and general home stuff.

My mom has a subscription to People and she gives me every issue when she is done with it.  1 time a few years ago I paged through one at her house and now she acts super excited every time she gives me a stack of them.  I don't have the heart (or balls) to tell her they all go in the trash.

I normally do not buy trashy magazines but will pick one or two up if I am headed up to the lake.  :)

  • Check out hip2save.com. Occasionally they have free subscriptions to magazines available. I've been getting us weekly and redbook for free for the past 4-5 months or so.

  • One of my girlfriends bought me a 5 years subscription to Cosmo as a wedding gift, so I still have 3 years left on it. I read it a lot prebaby but now I don't even open them most of the time. My CG girls all read them though so I just pass them along.

  • I get Cosmo every month and I get Star passed on to me once SIL is done.

  • I read a lot of trashy mags in high school (I had a job, so I paid for them myself at the check-out), and felt like I sort of "outgrew" them by the time I moved out and was on my own. I find that a lot of the stories and "hot new sex tips" or whatever are recycled over time. Between that and the ridiculous ads, I just don't have the patience lol

  • I have a subscription to Cosmo but usually dont get around to reading them until months later. My mom will also bring me People, Ok! and whatever else they have at work when they rotate them out.
