Diaper Bag Poll

So I know diaper bags get brought up quite a bit on here and there definitely are some favorites (PPB, JJB, Skiphop, J. Adler), but I thought maybe I could do a small poll/survey.

There are so many diaper bags out there, great and not so great, that buying a diaper bag has become the most overwhelming product for to me to choose from.  A lot of my mommy friends are constantly buying different ones and complaining about the ones they have, so I feel the need to seek out the perfect bag for me!

So, what kind of diaper bag did you choose to go with? Do you love it or hate it, elaborate more if you have time!  Whether its a $40 Carter's or a $180 Petunia, I'm interested in hearing what you have to say!

TIA

Re: Diaper Bag Poll

  • I got the Kate Spade Stevie- black and white polka dot. i got it at the outlet, so I paid around $120 vs the $350 retail price..

No baby here yet, so I can't comment on actual use. But I like the inside pockets, diaper changer, wipeable material, size and bottle pockets on outside.  and that it looks cute and doesn't scream diaper bag

  • With DD I got a vera bradey one.  I paid about  $60 for it.  I really loved it.

For this one, i got one from Etsy.  Paid about $80 for it.  I was just looking for a change.  I haven't gotten it in yet though, so no reviews on it.  Here is the link though.  I'm super excited for it!

  • I started out with a JJ Cole and hated it after about a month. I switched to the Diaper Dude messenger bag that I had gotten for DH. DS is 12 months now, and we use the Diaper Dude 100% of the time. Great bag, holds up well, pockets are good sized, and the thing I like the most about it is that it's not deep. My JJ Cole was really deep in the main pocket area, and I could never find anything, always digging. The Diaper Dude is wider and not as deep so I can actually locate what I need. While I am not a SAHM, so I don't use it as often as I would if I was at home full-time, I quickly found that convenience and practicality won out over fashion and looks of the bag (which was what I thought I wanted when I first bought).
  • I have a patent leather gray Coach diaper bag, bought at the outlet. I freaking love it. I get compliments on it all the time. People can't believe it's a diaper bag since it just looks like a big purse.

  • I have a Skip Hop Dash Deluxe. I really love it, the configuration of the pockets is good, and the clips to clip to the stroller are awesome. But before #2 arrives, I'm going to upgrade to the Duo Deluxe because I will need a little more room for 2 kids. Love Skip Hop!

  • I used a skip hop dash until DD was about a year old. It held enough but wasn't huge. It has some weight to it even when empty though. I switched to a JJB hobobe and like it a lot. It looks more like a big purse instead of a diaper bag. It's a lot lighter too. I don't think it would have worked when DD was younger, but I can see the appeal of JJB bags.
The one thing I hate about most diaper bags is the changing pad that they come with. They are usually way to small. I now use a skip hop pronto diaper changer and just keep it in the stroller or carry it seperately when we go out to eat. The changing pad is a lot bigger and I don't have to bring the entire diaper bag into the restroom for a diaper change.
  • With my first I had a Carter's diaper bag and though it was ok it got dirty easily and ended up being a bad fit . With my second I got an Eddie Bauer weekender bag and it worked ok but I hated how it looked like a diaper bag. With my third I just used a purse from target which worked ok but never had enough room. This time around I purchased a PP weekender since ill be needing to put Nb stuff as well as my one year olds stuff and my three year olds change of clothes . I love the PP bag . It's super roomy and its a great compromise between style and function .
  • We have a Columbia backpack style bag and loved it. I need to throw it in the wash to see if can be revived for round 2. I found the shoulder bags threw off my alignment and posture and I was already weighed down with a heavy infant. It was not girly or cute but my husband carried it frequently and that is what we wanted.

  • I have the Timi and Leslie "dawn" diaper bag and I love it! It is spacious, has tons on different sizes pockets, and even comes with a smaller wristlet for mom to use. I'm a SAHM and I carry it everyday, so far so good!

  • My mom got us an Eddie Bauer diaper bag at Target. It did not get good reviews at all, so I was concerned about its durability. We have had absolutely no problems with it, and there's enough interior space for our diaper changer, cloth diapers/covers, wet bag, nursing cover, and small blanket. And it fits in the basket area of our City Mini. Granted, once I returned to work we only go out with baby once a week at the most. But it has worked well for us, and DH likes it.
  • We started with a really cheap backpack style diaper bag. We still use it when we are going to do quick trips. It is nice to have your hands free without the bag falling off your shoulder.

For daycare we needed a large bag (we cloth diaper) so I got the vera wang bag used. It lasted awhile but I really wanted some pockets so everything could be organized.

So we now have the lands end diaper bag. https://www.landsend.com/pp/do-it-all-diaper-bag~250462_-1.html It opens like a old doctor's bag which is nice and it has compartments. We use it for daycare and use the backpack style for restaurants etc.

  • I have two: a Stokke messenger style one that DH can carry and a more fashionable Kate Spade one. I think the Stokke was around 120 and the Kate Spade around 200, on sale.

When DD was a newborn and I was toting around sooo much stuff, I liked having a unisex bag. Usually one of us would wear the baby and the other would carry the diaper bag. We also take it with us when we go hiking or do something else outdoorsy.

The truth is, though, a diaper bag is something where I think form matters more than function. It's like any purse. It should suit your style. Besides diapers, I basically keep nothing in there now except Goldfish and string cheese. Kate Spade is a brand I wear for everyday so it's what I chose for my diaper bag.

  • I have a Coach diaper bag that I used with DD1 until just recently (17m).  I really liked it bc I wanted something that looked more like a purse than a diaper bag.  Plus, I really love Coach bags in general and were the only purses I owned before that.  As time went on and I needed to start carrying snacks and toys, it didn't seem to be big enough for me since I also used it as my purse.

I just got a JJB Be Prepared since I will have 2 in diapers soon.  I quickly fell in love with JJB bags.  I love that they are completely machine washable, all the compartments and pockets they have, the mommy pocket some of the bags have to keep my stuff nicely separated, insulated bottle pockets, and the really nice sized memory foam changing pads.  And I love all the fun accessories they make as well.  For diaper bags, I am for sure a JJB girl from now on :)
