Good morning!
DS was playing this morning and jumped onto my lap and accidentally stepped on the lower half of my stomach (I am almost 32 weeks). It was hard enough to make me cry out but it didn't "hurt". I haven't felt the baby move since (though he may or may not have been moving before, I wasn't really paying attention). So I don't know if I am being paranoid or not.
I just made myself a cup of coffee, he usually moves around after I drink one so I'm going to see what happens.
No cramping or bleeding.. I guess I'm just nervous wondering if everything is okay. Unfortunately it's a weekend otherwise I would just call my OB and tell them what happened and get their opinion but I don't want to make an emergency call to them for no reason...
Thoughts?
Re: Overreacting?
Your ob doesn't have an after hours number?
Did you try eating an orange or something sugary and laying on your left side? Try setting a glass of ice water on your belly and see if baby moves away from it?
Hi everyone! Just wanted to update on this for those that had kindly responded with suggestions!
I waited a full hour without feeling much of anything (even after caffeinated coffee with a sugary creamer) and then I called my ob's after hours number. He happened to be the dr on call luckily so we chatted. He said while he was pretty sure everything was perfectly fine, because of the decreased movement he wanted me to go to L&D to be monitored for an hour just to be sure. So I did. Of course 1 hour turned into almost 3 between waiting to get a room in triage and getting hooked up, waiting for an u/s, etc but it was all worth it for my peace of mind. Baby's heart rate looked great and the ultrasound was perfect also. After I was hooked up for about 45 minutes baby started moving around quite a bit. Maybe he was in shock from the hit? The good news is that they told me he is head down so fingers crossed he stays that way! DS #1 was head down at 32 weeks too and never moved again so I'm hopeful.
Anyway thanks again to everyone who responded!
