Trying to Get Pregnant

Can the temperature of your house affect your temp?

I got CHs this morning on CD17. On CD 17, I woke up to the house being 58 degrees. The heater had gone out. If I discard this temp, FF moves my CHs to CD16.

WWYD?

Re: Can the temperature of your house affect your temp?

  • Living in a home without air conditioning, I have found that room temp does not matter all that much.  I still have always seen a shift and temps have not be crazy.

    Others may disagree.

This. No matter if my house was hot or cold, I always see a shift.

  • I agree with the others. I haven't noticed a difference in my temps if I wake up really hot or really cold.

  • I'm with other PPs.  I wouldn't discard the temp.

My husband is a heater and I'm always cold.  I haven't noticed a change in my temp when he turns off the heater in the house and it gets colder.  Or vice versa.

  • I've found house temp doesn't matter at all. I've woken up sweating having to throw off blankets, and my temp was still low, and vice versa, woke up shivering and had a high temp. It doesn't seem to matter at all, your inner thermostat will still do what it will.

  • Thanks ladies.

It doesn't really matter anyway. We had shitty a$$ timing either way since DH was gone for work.

  • I had the same question. I was traveling a lot last cycle and I didn't get a temp rise. The hotel room was 10 degrees cooler than my house and I was not sure if that affected my temp or I just didn't O.

My chart looks better this cycle but I also started using heater this week due to a cold spell so I guess I'm still not sure.

  • FF does list change in room temp as a factor that can affect your BBT:  https://www.fertilityfriend.com/Faqs/Factors-that-affect-temperatures-.html

It may depend partially on if you were using a lot of blankets or if you woke up totally freezing... I probably wouldn't discard it based on that but just make a note of it and keep it in the back of your mind in case something else in your chart seems weird going forward.

  • I can tell a difference if its a drastic change in temp but ive still been able to see a shift over the whole month. Ive gotten down to like very low 96 temps when house has been real cold.
