XP: SubChorionic Hemorage? Sorry...long...

Hi Ladies...Had a bleed friday night and I am not sure if it was a SCH. I was at a fundraiser for school and I went to the ladies room. When I wiped I was spotting. I called my doctor b/c she asked to let her know about any type of spotting since I am having triplets. She called back and said bed rest all weekend and tons of water. She didnt seem concerned because there was no cramping. She didnt even want to see me. When I stood to go home I felt a gush of blood. Sure enough within 20 min it went from light spotting to a full on gush of blood. I called her back and she said probably a SCH and just bed rest all weekend unless cramping and heavy, heavy bleeding. Then call her and head to the ER. I bleed the rest of the night, like a moderate period. By 4 or 5 am it subsided. I have been in bed since or riding the couch with my legs elevated. I have drank so much water I could float away. No bleeding or cramping all day yesterday. This morning, 7am, I had the tiniest bit of pink blood when wiping, I probably wouldnt have noticed it if I wasnt looking for it. Since then all is quiet.

I have my first appointment with my MFM doctor tomorrow and on Tuesday an appointment with my reg Ob. I wont relax until I see the heartbeats on the U/S tomorrow.

Has anyone experienced a SCH and does this sound like one? What was your outcome? I know ladies have posted about SCH before but I havent read any and I did go back about 4 pages and couldnt find anything. I am almost 12 weeks, so close to getting out of the first tri....I was hoping I could make it to my second tri without any major issues. I just need some reassurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Thanks!!!

  • In my opinion she should have had you go in for an u/s right away.

I had an SH at 7 w. full on cramping and tons of blood. Bleeding stopped in a few days later. They saw me right away. Ive also had a loss with similar symptoms. But there is no way to know whats going on until u/s. But SH's are more common in multiples pregnancies. GL!

  • I had one that resolved itself around 13w. I did have a few episodes of bleeding, one that resulted in passing 4 blod clots. My doctor said unless I was filling a pad an hour I was okay. They did always have me come in for an u/s if the bleeding was bad.

Each time the bleeding got less and less, just as you described. I only started cramping after I saw blood, but I think I was just getting tense.

GL at your appt tomorrow. Hopefully it goes away soon as it is scary to see that blood.

  • That is just how my sch was, and a miscarriage doesn't subside in bleeding the same way. Some docs don't have you come in right away as you really can't do anything to stop a m/c other than rest, which still wouldn't change the majority of losses in most opinions. Hang in there, I had a HUGE bleed at 11 weeks, but it resolved itself just fine. I was so sure I was having another loss, but the bleeding subsided which was much different.

  • Yup that sounds like my SCH. I had some spotting for a few days after the major bleed and that was it. My RE said it could happen more than once and still be fine. Mine was gone by week 13. ETA: I couldn't relax until I had an u/s either. My RE's office didn't want to give me one because they couldn't do anything about it either way. So it doesn't surprise me you didn't get one right away either. I'm glad you're getting one soon though.
  • It sounds like a SCH to me, but I am shocked that your doctor would not have you in for an u/s to confirm. Maybe it's because I am used to going to my RE for my early care. Did they see a SCH at any of your previous u/s scans? Depending on the size of the SCH some doctors might recommend pelvic rest. Definitely keep drinking a lot of water. Good luck at your next appointments!
