Contoured changing pad is cheap

Just saw this on a deal website - the summer infant contoured changing pad is $13 right now. I grabbed one but haven't figured out where to put it. Are you using a changing table or a dresser or..??

  • We still use ds's changing table, and love the contoured changing pad.

  • We used ours on top of a dresser for our first LO. You could secure it to the back of the dresser using screws so that it doesn't fall off. We decided to go this route so that the dresser could essentially "grow" with our LO rather than have an "uni-tool" of a piece of furniture since we don't have a lot of room. We haven't figured out what we will do this time around though..most likely get another dresser since we probably won't be potty trained by that point and they will most likely be in separate rooms so sharing a dresser wouldn't be ideal.

  • We were given a handmedown changing table - and it works perfectly with this kind of cushion, I'll be getting a new one, too for this baby.  I have been pleased that the table worked well as a shelving unit for a long time for my older son, so it hasn't felt like it's only had one use.

But I'm sure once this baby is out of diapers, we'll get other shelving.

  • We are just using a dresser.  We found a crib that we love for 220 and cheapest changing table that matched was 150.  I couldn't justify spending that much on a changing table when I am pretty sure I will just change LO anywhere.  Plus our nursery isn't super big.

I don't think this is a particularly good deal. I think this is around the price it always seems to be. In any case, we used a washable mat on the bed to change DS. I had room to sit next to him while I did it, and it was more comfortable than a changing table. Most changing tables and pads on dressers have you changing them sideways, I liked having him perpendicular to me.

  • We will be using a dresser with a changing pad. Definitely not worth it to buy a changing table (in my eyes anyway).
