The average luteal phase is 10-16 days. If you have a LP that is consistently less than 10 days, there could be a problem.

This. What are you basing your O date on? If you are just tracking you cycle length or using an app for your phone that doesn't chart BBT or CM there is the chance that you are Oing before the 14th day of your cycle.

  • i was afraid of that....thank you
  • i am basing it on a doctors apt. that i had last week. i had been using a general app,but i had a doctors apt. on the 20th and it showed that i was ovulating THEN,not the week before and i am due for my period on tuesday...so I was feeling hopefuly..but not so much anymore
  • i hope so! i have been tracking for about 5/6 months now and it has been a pretty regular AF cycle..but i had ever noticed the "egg-whitey" dis-charge before now,so maybe my cycle is just changing. thank you girls for the comments

If you ovulated later than expected, your period may not show up when you expect it to.

Just to carry this conversation to fruition, if you get to Tuesday, and there is no AF, that does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. If you ovulated later than normal, your cycle will be longer than normal, but you're not "late". I know what I just said may seem obvious, but there are a lot of folks who base "lateness" on cycle day length and not days after O.

If you don't have AF 14 days after your doctor's appointment, then take a test because it will be able to tell you if you are pregnant or not.

  • thank you! though i hope i do miss my period..atleast if it comes later on...ill know i dont have a LP problem!!
  • yes,i had an internal to look for something else and she had said that i was infact most def. ovulating..i had so much stress the past couple of years thinking that i had a bicornuate uterus (that they just confirmed was false) then after the docs. apt. i was feeling pretty hopeful after a couple rounds of "trying"..that now im hoping there isnt another bump in the road to worry about. thank you!
