Im sad to say I have to dry out but i am confusef how this works. I have been down to ep 2-3 times a day for about a month now so I didnt think it would be too hard. I haven't pumped or anything in 4 days now and I am still just about to explode. I am not as miserable as I was on day one but my breast dont really seem like they have gone down at all. Should I pump and empty them or just weigh it out and it will eventulally dry out. Is this how it is supposed to work. i am so confused. But it sure would be nice to be comfortable again. I am not miserable but by no means even remotely comfy. And sleeping is becoming pretty tough. Any advice is appreciated. TIA
Re: Trying to dry out. Help!
When I was massively engorged, I was told by my LC to take sudafed and wear a super tight ace bandage. I was told nothing stimulating like touching them or facing towards the water in the shower. It just sucked for a few days. Sucked really bad actually.
I tried cabbage leaves and please put them in baggies or change them like every half hour and dont get stuck anywhere hot while wearing it. Youre going to smell like old cabbage and have cabbage stuck to parts of your body that you never thought you would if you dont.
All of this. I had a hard time drying my milk. It was so painful. I also want to add put cold packs on your boobs. It helps with the pain and swelling so much! And if you are not giving any more milk to baby you can take advil for it too. I was pretty uncomfortable for a week and I was still leaking a bit 2 weeks later.
It took me a little over two weeks of being completely engorged to dry up. I did the tight sports bra, cabbage leaves, ice, everything. Some people dry up fast, others do not.
The first few days I didn't touch them at all. After a few days I would take hot showers and just express a little where I had huge lumps. I would not pump if I were you, because that would signal your body to make more.
Part of drying up your milk on your own terms is being uncomfortable. Just remember it won't last forever. Good Luck!

I was going to suggest Sudafed but totally missed her pregnancy ticker! It totally did the trick for me after both LOs.
I also did the cabbage leaves and ice. Drying out your milk is tough. GL!
